UFC 283 Prop Bets: An Action-Packed Return To Brazil

'Uh Vai Morrer'! Bank on Plenty of Finishes

Potentially No Decisions on Saturday Per UFC 283 Prop Bets

The UFC matchmakers know what they are doing as they stack UFC 283 with combustible matchups. Nearly all of the 15 fights scheduled can lead to a finish when we look at the UFC 283 prop bets. Twelve of the 15 fights are lined at chalk to finish while the other three are still at minus odds while only one is expected to actually make it to the final bell. As the raucous Brazilian fans chant ‘uh vai morrer!’ (‘you’re going to die!’), expect plenty of knockouts and submissions.

Brazilians Heavily Favored to Finish

Of course, the UFC has given the Brazilian fans what they want: home favorites with a solid chance of winning in style. Eleven Brazilians are favored to win their bouts. Those betting on UFC fights can parlay several of the event’s large favorites for a massive payout. Of the favorites, seven are lined at -200 or shorter.

Jailton Almeida (-900) and Josiane Nunes (-550) are the two largest favorites for the evening while Gilbert Burns (-475), Jessica Andrade (-475), and Thiago Moises (-375) also come in at significant chalk. The first four are fighting non-Brazilians with Almeida and Nunes significantly favored to finish.

Almeida is 3-0 in the UFC and has been a -420 favorite or larger on the UFC odds. He’s finished all his opponents in the first round as he takes on Shamil Abdurakhimov who has been finished three straight times. Nunes is 2-0 in the UFC and is coming off two beatdowns. Zarah Fairn, her opponent, has not fought in three years and has not won a fight since 2017.

Both Abdurakhimov and Fairn are no better than sacrificial lambs here. Almeida to win via finish is priced at a whopping -500 while a first-round win is at -160. Nunes, on the other hand, is lined at -120 to finish Fairn and at +145 to do it in the first round.

Teixeira Leads Brazilians in Main Card as Finishers

Glover Teixeira (+110) headlines UFC 283 against Jamahal Hill for the vacant UFC Light Heavyweight Championship. He lines up at +160 to finish Hill even as a slight dog. The 43-year-old finished six of his last seven victories. In fact, only five of his 33 professional wins have come via a decision.

As for the aforementioned Burns and Andrade, the diminutive UFC fighters are two of the best non-titleholders in the promotion. Burns gave both Kamaru Usman and Khamzat Chimaev a tough fight in losing efforts. As far as his finishing ability, he’s either knocked out or submitted his opponent in seven of his 13 UFC wins. At +110, Burns should make Neil Magny his eighth.

Andrade, on the other hand, has finished her last five victories.

‘Only champions have escaped her wrath. The UFC 283 prop bets are at +120 for her to finish “Lucky” Lauren Murphy, who has only been finished by Valentina Shevchenko in her pro career.’

Johnny Walker (-200) also opens the main card against fellow finisher Paul Craig. The two combine for 19 finishes inside the octagon: 13 where they came out on top and six where they didn’t. Their fight won’t go to a decision at -550, which is tied with Teixeira-Hill, and McKinney-Bonfim as the second-least likely to.

Other Brazilians Face Tighter Odds

Not every fight here is a favorable matchup for the Brazilians. Deiveson Figueiredo (-105) is in for another tough fight against Brandon Moreno. The two meet for a historic fourth time in the octagon and should fight for another 25 minutes per the odds.

Other Brazilians like Gabriel Bonfim (-175), Saimon Oliveira (-155), and Warlley Alves (-125) also enter as slight favorites; however, the UFC 283 prop bets still favor their finishing prowess. Bonfim to finish Mounir Lazzez is lined at +105 while Oliveira’s is at +160 against Daniel Marcos. Alves’s most likely route to victory is also via a knockout or submission (+185) against Nicolas Dalby.

And on the other end is a fading legend in Mauricio “Shogun” Rua (+175) who is the rare Brazilian underdog here. While Ihor Poteria is a mid-tier fighter, Shogun is retiring and lost to Craig via strikes. Yes, the BJJ specialist Craig TKO’d Shogun. But diehard supporters should know that UFC prop bets on Shogun to knock out Poteria and pays $375 for every $100 wager.
