How might things shake out? We break down the UFL Week 6 odds and also assess the futures market across the league.
UFL Week 6 Matchups
Stallions vs Showboats
Day/Time:
Location: Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium; Memphis, Tenn.
Streaming: ABC, ESPN+
- Spread: Stallions -11, Showboats +11
- Moneyline: Stallions -750, Showboats +525
- Total: Over 43, Under 43
Halfway through the season, Birmingham is clearly the team to beat. The Stallions are 5-0, the UFL’s only remaining unbeaten team. They’re coming off a 32-9 rout of Houston.
Making another start in place of Matt Corral, Adrian Martinez threw for 155 yards and a touchdown and added 138 yards rushing. The former University of Nebraska star leads the league in rushing (302 yards, 11.6 yards/carry), fueling an offense that averages nearly 27 points per game.
It is no wonder, Birmingham’s UFL title odds have climbed to +120. Those are the shortest on the board, with St. Louis (+150) and San Antonio (+500) the only other UFL teams coming in at 5/1 or better.
The Stallions will have an opportunity to build on that against Memphis, a loser of four straight. The Showboats have been woeful defensively, allowing 30-plus points in three consecutive games. They are coming off a 35-18 loss to Michigan in which they gave up 311 yards. As such, Birmingham is shaping up to be a big favorite on the UFL Week 6 odds board.
Altogether, the Showboats are last in the UFL rankings in total offense (220.2 yards/game) and sixth in total defense (314.8 yards allowed/game). There’s not much to get excited about, as their +4500 title odds would indicate.
Roughnecks vs Battlehawks
Day/Time:
Location: The Dome at America’s Center; St. Louis
Streaming: Fox
- Spread: Roughnecks +12.5, Battlehawks -12.5
- Moneyline: Roughnecks +575, Battlehawks -850
- Total: Over 48.5, Under 48.5
Houston continues to trend in the wrong direction. A 32-9 loss to Birmingham dropped the Roughnecks to 1-4. They have allowed 23 points or more in three of those contests, fueling concerns about their defense.
Reid Sinnett has played reasonably well, ranking fourth in the UFL in passing yards (812) on top of a 66.4% completion rate. But without much of a supporting cast, his production is going to waste.
Houston is merely middle of the pack on both sides of the ball, ranking sixth in total offense (247 yards/game) and fifth in total defense (278.8 yards allowed/game). There may be some room to build on that, but the Roughnecks still likely aren’t a contender. As it is, their championship odds are +7000.
St. Louis, on the other hand, is a bona fide contender. The Battlehawks are 4-1 following their 45-12 rout of D.C. and feature the UFL’s best offense at 30.2 points per game. A.J. McCarron — a former three-time NCAA champion at Alabama — threw two touchdown passes, giving him a UFL-best 10 on the season. McCarron also leads the league with a 68.5% completion rate and is second with 1,051 yards. Meanwhile, Hakeem Butler is tops in receiving yards (344).
With that in mind, St. Louis continues to separate itself as the biggest threat to undefeated Birmingham. The Battlehawks’ title odds have climbed to +150, up from +200 last week.
Renegades vs Panthers
Day/Time:
Location: Ford Field; Detroit
Streaming: Fox
- Spread: Renegades +4, Panthers -4
- Moneyline: Renegades +164, Panthers -198
- Total: Over 42, Under 42
At 0-5, Arlington remains the UFL’s lone winless team. The Renegades are coming off a 25-15 loss to San Antonio.
Luis Perez leads the league with 1,151 passing yards but has also been sacked nine times. Without much semblance of a running game the Renegades may continue struggling to protect him.
That could be especially problematic against Michigan, as the Panthers rank second at defending the run (71.6 yards allowed/game) and fourth in total defense (273.2 yards allowed/game). The Panthers stymied Memphis last week in a 35-18 win, recording seven sacks and four takeaways.
At +1100, Michigan has the fourth shortest UFL title odds. Meanwhile, Arlington is the biggest longshot at +10000.
Brahmas vs Defenders
Day/Time:
Location: Audi Field; Washington, D.C.
Streaming: Fox
- Spread: Brahmas -1, Defenders +1
- Moneyline: Brahmas -120; Defenders +100
- Total: Over 42.5, Under 42.5
San Antonio’s surprising start continues, as the Brahmas moved to 4-1 with their 25-15 victory over Arlington. The Brahmas are balanced on both sides of the field, ranking second in total offense (299 yards/game) and third in total defense (269.8 yards allowed/game).
As such, their title odds have improved to +500. They are one of three teams better than 10/1.
The Brahmas have already beaten D.C. once, 27-12 in Week 1. Jordan Ta’amu, the reigning XFL Offensive Player of the Year, threw for 227 yards but failed to reach the end zone.
D.C. has the UFL’s last-ranked defense, allowing a league-high 322.4 yards per game. Because of that, the Defenders’ title odds are just +1500.
