Kalle Rovanperä leads the way in inaugural 2024 Tet Rally Latvia Odds
The WRC's first event in Latvia should feature two champions facing off for victory.

For the first time in championship history, the World Rally Championship (WRC) is coming to Latvia. The inaugural Rally Latvia is another gravel event amid a run of European rallies.
The high-speed gravel characteristics should make it a fun event for drivers and spectators alike. The 2024 Tet Rally Latvia Odds predict a close battle at the front for victory.
2024 Tet Rally Latvia Odds: Favorites
Kalle Rovanperä (+125)
Rovanperä rolled to victory in Poland after filling in late for Sébastien Ogier. His 28-second victory was his second in part-time action in 2024.
He’s competed in just four events so far this season with two wins (Kenya and Poland) and two finishes outside the top 30: 39th in Sweden and 31st in Portugal.
Latvia may be new to the WRC calendar but that isn’t the case for Rovanperä. The two-time defending champion spent years racing around the area as a teenager.
His impressive result in Poland makes him the favorite here and he should be in the hunt for another win on the rally schedule.
Ott Tänak (+200)
Momentum from Tänak’s win in Sardinia quickly faded with a rough outing in Poland. Contact with a deer during the first day of action caused massive damage and dropped him down the order. He ended up classified 40th, his second-worst result of the season. Last week he had another massive crash on home soil at the Rally Estonia.
He needs a strong result this week to get his title campaign back on track. He’s third and just 21 points back in the WRC standings from leader Thierry Neuville. If he can regain his pre-Poland form, Tänak is starting at an advantageous position and could make the most of it.
Sébastien Ogier (+300)
Ogier’s late withdrawal kept him from action in Poland but he’s a threat to win every weekend if he’s in one of the best rally cars or not. Latvia, though it is a new event, should be no different with its high-speed gravel stages.
Ogier has the best average form of any driver in the WRC this season. He has either finished first (Croatia, Portugal) or second (Monaco, Sardinia) in all four of his events this season. Ogier would likely be close to Tänak for third in the standings had he raced in Poland. He should be considered a threat to win in this inaugural rally.
Sleepers
Esapekka Lappi (+850)
Lappi’s back in the field for Hyundai this weekend following a nearly four-month break. The Finnish driver earned a surprise win in Sweden but only has one more result (12th in Kenya) on his resume this season.
He did win this rally on the European Rally Championship (ERC) circuit back in 2014. It’d be a surprise to see him win again but so was his victory in Sweden.
Elfyn Evans (+1000)
Evans remains the most consistent driver in the WRC after his second-place finish in Poland. He’s finished no lower than sixth all year and has four top-three finishes in seven events.
If he hopes to capture that elusive WRC title, Evans needs to get a win this WRC season. This is the longest he’s gone through a season without a victory since his winless 2022 campaign.
Unfortunately, his Toyota teammates Ogier and Rovanperä could make that quite difficult.
Thierry Neuville (+1200)
Neuville bounced back from a rough result in Sardinia (41st) to take fourth in Poland. That means he has top-five results in all but one event this season. That slight step above Evans in consistency is the reason he still holds the championship lead heading into this weekend.
Neuville is better in gravel or tarmac rallies. He unfortunately has the worst starting position of the field this weekend and that could keep him from victory. He should still be in the hunt for a podium at the very least, though.
2024 Tet Rally Latvia Odds: Predictions
Latvia will present new challenges for the drivers and teams. With little history beyond the ERC, it’s less familiar than many other events on the calendar.
Still, high-speed gravel stages aren’t too unfamiliar as that’s a lot of what this part of the calendar features.
We like Rovanperä (+125) to get the win. Given how strong he was in Poland on short notice and his familiarity with the conditions from his time as a teenager, it’s hard to bet against the two-time defending champion.
We like Ogier (-250) and Evans (+165) to join Rovanperä (-345) on the podium this weekend. Both of them have shown incredible consistency this season and Evans especially needs to close the gap to Neuville in the WRC standings.
