Falcons vs Commanders Highlights

After a failed attempt to lure Deshaun Watson to Atlanta, there is a new QB in town for the Dirty Birds for the first time in over a decade. The Falcons will look to move on from Matt Ryan and place their faith in Marcus Mariota, hoping he offers more here than he did in Tennessee. With a middling vet at QB, the team from Georgia looks like they are at the bottom rung of a rebuild job. They drafted Drake London to provide another receiving option, and the second-year tight end Kyle Pitts will hope for a breakout year. Backing up Mariota will be rookie Desmond Ridder, who may be pushing for a starting role.

While Carson Wentz may not be most people’s number 1 QB, he nevertheless represented the upgrade that Ron Riviera was after. He will need to learn to throw the ball away and play smarter if he is to succeed, though, with his gunslinging tendencies getting him into trouble against even the weakest defenses. He does have a true number 1 in Terry McLaurin, who signed a contract extension in the summer. Also catching passes are Dotson and Samuel, both capable catchers.

Washington has won 16 games to Atlanta’s 10 in this series. Washington also won the last meeting in 2021 34-30. However, prior to this, they lost 6 straight against the Falcons, including an overtime loss in 2015. So, which way will this Falcons vs Commanders matchup go? If you bet on NFL games, favor a home win, with Carson Wentz showing some flashes of why he was a number 1 overall pick once upon a time.
