Kansas City Chiefs vs Arizona Cardinals

We have a cross-conference game to start the season in Kansas City Chiefs vs Arizona Cardinals, marking the first meeting of these two teams since 2018. Back then, the Chiefs were riding high with Patrick Mahomes (9-1 and cruising) and the Cards were languishing at 2-7. Arizona has seemingly found a young star QB of its own, so will the result be different 4 years on?

Chiefs vs Cardinals Highlights

Despite reaching their 4th consecutive AFC Championship Game, the Chiefs will look back at the 2021 season as a ‘what if’ in the Mahomes/Reed era. Cruising at halftime versus the Bengals, they failed to reach another Super Bowl after their once-dominant offense spluttered. While they still look like the team to beat in the AFC West, the loss of wide receiver Tyreek Hill to the Dolphins means they must do without their biggest offensive game changer.

The biggest story around the Cardinals has been the status of Kyler Murray. Rumors swirled around contract dissatisfaction, and the team did little to quell the unrest between player and club. But the contract was finally signed, a questionable ‘studying clause’ aside, and it looks like K1 is ready to lead his team. The Cards were a hot side for the first part of last year, reaching 7-0, before falling away 11-6 and losing in the Wild Card round. They have acquired Hollywood Brown and resigned Murray, Ertz, and Connor, but in terms of NFL betting odds, they still look a long shot to win their first Super Bowl.

So, Chiefs vs Cardinals: where should your money go if you want to bet on NFL games in Week 1? The Chiefs should be favored, and rightly so—despite being at home. The Cardinals were only 3-5 on home soil last time out. Bank on Kansas starting out hot and getting some points on the Cardinals’ defense.
