Miami Dolphins vs Los Angeles Chargers

It’s week 14 in the 2022 NFL season, and we have a cross-country matchup on the slate. The east coast Dolphins will make the journey all the way to California to face off against the LA Chargers. The last time they made this trip in 2017, they won 19-17. Do the NFL betting odds see a similar result this time around?

Dolphins vs Chargers Highlights

The Florida team’s off-season was fraught with controversy, with accusations of shady employment policies and tanking doing little to support a struggling team. But now they have energetic playmaker Tyreek Hill, who should help Tua Tagovailoa find his rhythm. In terms of yards per game, their offense ranked 25th last year, so they’ll be hoping to make strides in 2021 against a weak Chargers defense.

This summer, the Chargers improved their already formidable roster by adding pass rusher Khalil Mack, and they re-signed record-setting safety Derwin James to a contract extension that set a new standard for the NFL. This should improve a defense that finished the previous season ranked 10th in the league’s worst and ultimately cost them games down the stretch. Add to that the fact that Justin Herbert is having one of his magical performances and you shouldn’t be surprised if they end up on top of the playoff bracket in January.

The Dolphins have won 19 games to the Bolts’ 16 in the head-to-head. They also won their last matchup in November 2020. What’s more, they won in 2016 and 2017 by decent margins. In 2019 though, it was the Chargers who got the W, comfortably seeing out a 30-10 win. If you bet on NFL games, you’re probably wondering if history will repeat itself. In our opinion, yes it will. Even with the addition of Tyreek Hill, Miami looks overmatched here, so go for a Chargers win in week 14.
