Seattle Seahawks vs San Francisco 49ers

Seahawks vs 49ers in Week 2 is an all-NFC West matchup. Seattle has dominated this encounter in recent seasons, despite having otherwise disappointing campaigns. Both are starting new QB eras, however, with Seattle moving on from Russell Wilson and the 49ers backing Trey Lance for the starting job. Who will get ahead this week?

Seahwaks vs 49ers Highlights

The Pete Carroll vs Russell Wilson divorce is officially done. Wilson was sent to Denver in exchange for a bevy of draft picks, and Carroll looks like he has asserted his control over the Washington state franchise. While the divorce worked for both sides, it has left Seattle without a definite starting QB, with all signs pointing to Geno Smith getting the start at least early on. Can he keep the Hawks in the playoff race for the long-term?

The 49ers have also moved on from a Super Bowl starting quarterback this off-season. Despite achieving a fair share of success, Jimmy Garoppolo is on the trade block, and Trey Lance looks set to be the offensive leader for Kyle Shanahan’s outfit. While he was selected 3rd overall in the 2021 NFL draft, questions remain regarding his readiness to deliver for a playoff-quality team.

Seattle leads the overall battle between these two division rivals 30-17, winning the last 4 straight. Seattle has also won an unbelievable 10 straight games between 2013 and 2018, in one of the NFL’s most impressive spells of divisional dominance. It’s fair to say Pete Carroll has no trouble making the trip to the Bay Area. Can he continue his streak?

The NFL betting odds will likely back the Niners here, despite the historical mismatch. If you like to bet on NFL games, it could be worth a plunge on Seattle to upset the odds and continue their stranglehold over this rivalry.
