Seattle Kraken Betting Stats
Introducing the NHL’s newest franchise: the Seattle Kraken. The expansion team joined the NHL as the 32nd franchise, four years after the Vegas Golden Knights. As a new team, Seattle has yet to make its mark in the NHL, and the Kraken’s team stats are still developing. Fans can find this team as an underdog on the NHL odds as is typical of expansion teams.
The groundwork for an NHL expansion in Seattle was laid in December 2018. The NHL approved a proposal from the Seattle Hockey Partners. The Kraken are the first professional hockey team in Seattle since the Seattle Totems of the Western Hockey League in 1975.

Seattle Kraken Stats & History
The Seattle Kraken get their name from the mythical kraken of Scandinavian folklore. This kraken resembles a giant Pacific octopus, which is native to the waters of Puget Sound, by Seattle.
The group that owns the Kraken consists of several notable figures including billionaire businessman David Bonderman, movie and television producer Jerry Bruckheimer, and sports executive Tod Leiweke.
Among their minority owners are Seattle Sounders FC owner Adrian Hanauer, former Seattle Seahawk Marshawn Lynch, and Seattle-based music artist Macklemore.
Seattle hired Ron Francis as its first general manager, then Dave Hakstol as the coach. In the expansion draft, Seattle focused heavily on building a team that would be hard to play against.
It took Norris Trophy-winning defenseman Mark Giordano from Calgary as its first team captain. He played his 1000th NHL game as a member of the team though he was traded to Toronto prior to the NHL Trade Deadline.
However, the team became one of the worst in the NHL as per the Seattle Krakens’ team stats. Poor goaltending from both Philipp Grubauer and Chris Driedger doomed the expansion team to finishing in the bottom of the division and 30th overall.
Only Montreal and Arizona had worse records. When the Kraken’s betting lines first came out, the team received plenty of support from bettors. With the success of the Golden Knights a few years prior, fans likely believed Seattle would have the same kind of impact. Unfortunately, like most expansion teams before it, Seattle has struggled and does not appear close to contention.
Francis has been known as one of hockey’s best minds although he lacks experience as an executive. But with enough insight and savvy moves, Francis can make a contender out of the Kraken. Fans will just need to wait.
