Ryan Garcia Tested Positive for Banned Substance Ahead of Haney Fight

Garcia Dominated Haney with Three Knockdowns to Win a Decision

Cheating His Way to Victory? 💊

Before his recent showdown with Ryan Garcia on April 20, Devin Haney held an unblemished record and was positioned on a pedestal by Eddie Hearn and the Matchroom Boxing promotion team.

Unfortunately for them, neither the referee nor the judges nor Haney could stop Garcia from knocking Haney around before collecting a majority decision win in Brooklyn.

It was the biggest win of Garcia’s career, but the drama surrounding the referee’s involvement, the questionable judging, and the overall conspiracy that the boxing world is out to get Garcia isn’t over yet.

Garcia took to social media yesterday and denied using steroids amid leaked statements that he failed two drugs, one before and one after his bout with Haney.

The boxing rumors were first sparked by ESPN and reporter Dan Rafael on May 1, in a report that alleges Garcia tested positive for steroids. These tests were taken by VADA (Voluntary Anti-Doping Association) pre-fight on April 19 and post-fight on April 20.

Why Would Garcia Take Ostarine?

For those unfamiliar with the substance Ostarine, which Garcia has allegedly tested positive for, it’s utilized to boost muscle growth.

It’s easy to see why boxing news outlets may twist Garcia’s past actions into creating the perfect propaganda that goes against his denial, considering he underwent a mental health evaluation, missed weight by three pounds, and acted out of character during the build-up to the fight.

However, from the horse’s mouth, Garcia is adamant he’s never taken steroids and “barely uses supplements whatsoever.”

Garcia’s Response to Steroid Use

In a post on X, Garcia said: “Everybody knows that I don’t cheat. Never taken a steroid; I don’t even know where to get steroids. I barely take supplements. Big lies; I beat him.

Ryan Garcia’s record of 26 wins and 1 loss could be in jeopardy if the boxing commission declares his win over Haney as a no-contest. However, Garcia has made some interesting counterarguments, most specifically, the fact that he voluntarily took the drug tests.

“They are trying to take my greatest victory away, kinda sad when you think about it. Why in the world would I volunteer for a drug test if I planned on taking drugs?”

Garcia has ten days to request the testing of his B-sample.
