A World Class Facility

There is little doubt that SoFi Stadium is among the most technologically advanced venues in which to host a world-class event. Because of that and its fabulous Southern California location, the NFL owners voted unanimously to select it to host the Super Bowl yet again, after first hosting Super Bowl LVI in 2022.

We are very excited to bring the Super Bowl back to Los Angeles for the second time in five years,” NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said in a statement. “The city did an outstanding job hosting Super Bowl 56 in the incredible SoFi Stadium and we believe that Super Bowl 61 will be even more memorable.”

Inglewood Mayor James Butts remarked before Los Angeles hosted the Super Bowl in 2022, “SoFi Stadium is now the site of the world’s most hyped sports championships, concerts, and other performances, setting the standard for what a top-tier venue should be.

Sustainable, High-Tech SoFi Stadium

And top-tier it is as SoFi Stadium has all the bells and whistles one would expect of a $6.5 billion colosseum. The 70,000-seat stadium is 3 ½ times the size of Disneyland and has been built with sustainability requirements guiding every phase of the project. For example, the stadium’s roof and underground cisterns collect rainwater to supply all of the site’s irrigation needs.

The two-sided video board, which can be seen front and back from most of the seats is 120 yards long and has 2.2 million pounds of cutting-edge 4K technology. The NFL rumors proved to be true when confirming that the atmosphere inside the building is attuned to the climate outside of it.

Dallas-based architecture firm HKS’ principal and sports practice director, Mark Williams, said, “We tuned the building to the climate.” The structure was built with moving panels on the roof to welcome ocean breezes and is integrated through a sophisticated weather system that mirrors the neighborhood climate.

I have had NFL owners tell me that, I have had fans and patrons say that and our client says it works,” Williams says. “People can feel these great breezes come across their faces.”

Williams went on to say, “There is a very sophisticated engineering response to the seismic requirements. Things like the columns can sway, designed to move.

SoFi Stadium has three jaw-dropping events in consecutive years starting with being chosen as one of 16 U.S. locations to host the World Cup in 2026 followed by the Super Bowl in 2027 and ending with the Summer Olympic Games in 2028.
