The Iconic Tiger Woods-Nike Partnership Could Be Ending
The Iconic Swoosh May No Longer Be a Part of Golf Tournaments At All

Golf Won’t Be the Same
Golf rumors are swirling that Tiger Woods and the brand he’s been repping for decades could be going their separate ways. If this golf news is true then Nike may be leaving the golf industry while Tiger would be looking for a new brand to endorse.
Parting Ways?
Tiger Woods’ shoes were the first hint that something was possibly awry. As we all know, Tiger has been inextricably linked to Nike for decades. But at the Masters this past April, Tiger showed up wearing Foot Joys and not his faithful Nikes.
Pretty funny Tiger Woods doesn’t wear Nike Tiger Woods golf shoes

That was a big tipoff that something just wasn’t right because if a company has paid you somewhere in the vicinity of half a billion dollars since 1996 then it’s probably a pretty good idea to wear everything they sell, right down to the underwear.
However, according to the ‘No Laying Up’ podcast, Tiger may make his last appearance wearing the Nike gear at the PNC Championship being held next week. If this is true, Nike golf may not even exist for much longer which is why the two are splitting up.
A new report suggests Tiger Woods could be splitting from longtime partner Nike as early as this month.
Nike is believed to have paid Woods hundreds of millions of dollars since signing the superstar in 1996, when he was just 20 years old.https://t.co/HBw5ZB1LzC pic.twitter.com/Pcr09Z0O6X

Tiger has been using Taylor Made clubs ever since Nike got out of the golf equipment business back in 2016. This leaves Nike selling golf apparel and not equipment which means the revenues being produced in the division may not be sufficient to keep the brand in the game.
If the gossip is to be believed, we won’t only see Tiger leaving but luminaries such as Rory McIlroy, Brooks Koepka, and Scottie Scheffler would all be looking for a new brand to rep. All are signed with Nike but those partnerships could be coming to a quick close as well.
Nike’s Exit: Shaking Up Golf
This is a big deal in the world of golf and it would spell the end of a 40-year run in the industry for the brand with one of the world’s most iconic logos. The Swoosh has been seen at every major and minor tournament for decades and has adorned the greatest players on the planet who are compensated handsomely to wear the brand.
However, if there is nothing to sell then there is no reason to pay. Should Nike exit the market then there will be a void that will be quickly filled by other golf giants like Calloway, Titleist, Taylor Made, etc. What’s the old saying? Nature abhors a vacuum. And there will be no shortage of companies wooing the likes of Tiger and his contemporaries to represent them.
Should Tiger leave Nike it wouldn’t be the first time an icon has left the Swoosh. Legendary gymnast Simone Biles left Nike for women’s apparel brand Athleta a few years ago while soccer superstar Lionel Messi departed for Adidas in 2005. Everything has an expiration date and next week could be it for the Tiger/Nike marriage that has spanned three decades.
