Brondby FC Stats & History
Brondbyoster IF and Brondbyvester IF merged to form Brondbyernes Idrætsforening, or Brondby IF for short, in 1964. The club started in the sixth tier of Danish soccer as a prerequisite for building a new stadium, post-merger. Within a few years, Brondby were up to the fourth-tier league.
Finn Laudrup, the father of Danish legends Michael and Brian Laudrup, was named player-coach in 1973. After a year, he decided to focus on just playing and helped Bronby win promotion to the third division in 1976. Finn left in 1976, and Brondby secured promotion to the second tier for the first time in 1977.
After a few years away, Finn Laudrup returned and was part of the team that secured the first top-flight promotion in the Brondby FC stats. Finn retired after the season, but his son Michael took his place. Michael Laudrup became the first Brondby player ever to receive a Danish national team call-up in 1982. For his efforts, Laudrup was named the Danish Player of the Year and moved on to Juventus.

Brondby FC Team Records
With the windfall the club received, they were able to improve their roster. In 1985, they won the first major trophy in the Brondby FC stats, the Danish Superliga. Brondby’s first-ever European campaign was in the 1986-87 season, and they managed to reach the quarterfinals of the European Cup. Brondby won two more Danish League trophies to close out the decade, and their first Danish Cup in 1989.
The 1990s were Brondby’s best-ever period. They won five league titles, including three consecutive Superligas from 1996 to 1998. Brondby also won two more Danish Cups and reached the semifinals of the 1990-91 UEFA Cup.
Under Michael Laudrup, Brondby won their second-ever domestic double, in 2005. They most recently won the Danish Superliga in 2021 and participated in the 2021-22 Europa League group stage.
As of August 2022, Brondby are playing in qualifiers for the UEFA Europa Conference League, so bettors will not be able to place bets on their Europa League odds in the 2022-23 season. Brondby’s disappointing road record in the Superliga last season prompted betting advice to avoid them in such situations.
