Arsenal FC Stats & History

Arsenal FC were founded in 1886 by munitions workers at the Royal Arsenal. Their original name was Dial Square, but it was changed to Arsenal shortly after. Arsenal were the first team from Southern England to join the Football League, in 1893.

The Gunners reached the top flight in 1904, and have only been relegated once in their history, in 1913. Arsenal’s South London stadium was also destroyed in 1913, forcing them to move to North London. Hence, their rivalry with neighbors Tottenham Hotspur -with whom they contrast the North London Derby- was born.

The 1930s were an excellent period for the Gunners, as they won five league titles and two FA Cups; unfortunately, legendary manager Herbert Chapman died of pneumonia in 1934.

Arsenal FC Team Records

Arsenal won the league and FA Cup double in the same season for the first time in 1970-71. In one of the most impressive Arsenal team stats, the Gunners are tied with Manchester United for the most League/FA Cup doubles, with three.

Arsene Wenger is considered the greatest manager in the club’s history. He guided Arsenal to three Premier League titles and a record 7 FA Cup wins between 1996 and 2018. In the 2003-04 season, Wenger’s “Invincibles” were the first top-flight team ever to go undefeated in a 38-game season. They extended their streak to 49 games, which is the longest unbeaten streak ever in the top flight.

The 2000’s were one of Arsenal’s best eras, with legendary players like Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp and Patrick Vieira. Arsenal qualified for the Champions League for 19 consecutive years between 1998 and 2017. The Gunners have never won the competition, but made the final in 2006, where they lost to Barcelona. One of the most impressive Arsenal team stats is the fact that they have been in the top flight uninterruptedly for over 100 years.

Over the years, it certainly hasn’t been a bad idea to bet on Arsenal’s EPL odds. They’re the third-most successful club in English history, and have won a record 14 FA Cup trophies. Arsenal have also won 13 league titles, two league cups and 16 FA Community Shields. Arsenal’s most recent trophy was the 2020 FA Cup, which they won under Mikel Arteta.

Arsenal at home has been a solid betting selection. When considering your own betting information, don’t sleep on Arsenal on their home pitch, since they are 84-67 all-time in the North London Derby, in support of their betting backers.

Arsenal lead rivals Tottenham 84-67 all-time in the North London Derby. As of June 2022, the away team hasn’t won since 2014 — worth taking that into account as betting advice. So, betting on Arsenal as a pick’em at home has historically been a solid bet.
