Everton FC Stats & History
Originally called St. Domingo’s FC, Everton were founded in 1878. The team was renamed Everton FC in 1879 after the local area.Â
Everton were a founding member of the Football League in 1888 and won their first league title in 1891. A look at the Everton FC stats shows that they’ve spent the most seasons in the top flight of any English club.Â
The Toffees won the FA Cup for the first time in 1906 and won the league title again in 1915. One of the club’s most successful periods followed the signing of Dixie Dean in 1925. Dean leads many Everton FC stats, and is their all-time top scorer.
In 1927-28, Dean scored a record 60 goals in one season en route to Everton’s third league title. Despite getting relegated in 1930, Everton were back in the First Division one year later and won another league title in their first year back.

Everton also won the FA Cup in 1933, and Dean left the club in 1937. The Toffees won the league title two years later, and didn’t win another title until 1963.Â
They also won the FA Cup in 1966, and the league in 1970. With some rocky seasons in the late 70s, Howard Kendall led Everton to their best ever period. The Toffees won the 1984 FA Cup, the 1985 European Cup Winners’ Cup, and league trophies in 1985 and 1987.Â
A founding member of the Premier League, Everton haven’t been relegated from the top flight since 1954. Under former player Joe Royle, Everton won the FA Cup in 1995. Although Everton have never played in the Champions League in the 21st century, they have regularly played in European competitions. In 2022, Everton narrowly avoided relegation under Frank Lampard.Â
