Angers SCO Stats & History
Angers SCO was established in 1919, the same year as the founding of the French Football Federation. The club first acquired professional status during the 1940s, and played in the second division.
The legendary French international Raymond Kopa started his career at Angers and their stadium is now named after him. Le SCO reached the first division for the first time in 1956, and stayed there for 25 years. One of the more notable Angers SCO stats is their 1957 run to the finals of the Coupe de France.
Angers had a solid team in the early 70s. With Ligue 1 players like Jean-Marc Guillou and Marc Berdoll, Angers reached the UEFA Cup in 1972-73. However, they returned to the second division in 1981.
Le SCO returned to Ligue 1 in the mid-90s, but were relegated down to Ligue 2 shortly after. Over the next few years, they bounced around the second and third tiers of French soccer. In 2015, Angers earned a promotion to Ligue 1 for the first time in 21 years.

Angers SCO Team Records
In their first season back in Ligue 1, Angers finished ninth. It remains the best finish of their current spell in the top flight. Since then, Angers have been a mid to lower-table club, but will play an eight consecutive top-flight season in 2022-23. Another of the most notable Angers SCO stats comes from the 2016-17 season. Angers advanced to their second-ever Coupe de France final, but fell 1-0 to Paris Saint-Germain.
The Ligue 1 odds price Angers as massive longshots to win the league in 2022-23, at +100000 odds. One problem betting advice frequently mentions is Angers’ lack of a prolific striker. They haven’t had a player score ten or more goals in a Ligue 1 season since Stephan Bahoken managed the feat in 2018-19. Angers finished in 14th place in the league in 2021-22 with a -11 goal difference.
