Borussia M’Gladbach Team Records
The 70s were undoubtedly the most successful decade for Gladbach. They won their second DFB-Pokal in 1973 and were UEFA Cup finalists that same year. In 1973-74, Jupp Heynckes, their all-time leading scorer, led the Bundesliga with 30 goals.
Borussia Monchengladbach may very well have peaked in the 1974-75 season. They completed a Bundesliga and UEFA Cup double as legendary coach Hennes Weisweiler departed on a high note. Despite Weisweiler leaving for Barcelona, Gladbach won the next two Bundesliga titles. They came close to European Cup glory in 1977 but lost to Liverpool in the final.
Closing out an incredible decade, Borussia Monchengladbach won their second UEFA Cup, in 1979. Despite being a competitive team in the Bundesliga, Gladbach was unable to win a trophy during the 1980s. Their drought ended in 1995 as they won their third DFB-Pokal title. However, Gladbach went down to the 2. Bundesliga four years later. Their most recent spell in the Bundesliga started in 2008 and they’ve played in European competitions frequently ever since.
Bundesliga odds give Borussia Monchengladbach a decent shot of making the top four in 2022-23. They’re currently priced at +400 to qualify for the Champions League. With over 50 goals in the last four seasons, Bundesliga betting advice often mentions being aware of Gladbach’s team totals.
