ACF Fiorentina Stats & History
Associazione Calcio Firenze Fiorentina was formed in 1926 when C.S. Firenze and P.G. Libertas merged. Fiorentina first played in Serie A in 1931-32 and won their first trophy in 1940. Fiorentina defeated Genova 1893 1-0 in the Coppa Italia final.
ACF won their first Scudetto in the 1955–56 season and one of the most impressive Fiorentina stats was achieved in the process. The Viola lost just once during the entirety of the Serie A season. In each of the next four years, Fiorentina finished in second place. This was followed by four consecutive second-place finishes.
Another one of the most notable ACF Fiorentina stats is the fact that they were the first Italian club to play in a European Cup final. However, they lost 2-0 to Real Madrid in 1957. Four years later, the Viola also became the first Italian team to win a European competition. Fiorentina defeated Rangers 4-1 on aggregate in the 1961 Cup Winners’ Cup final.

Fiorentina’s won their second league title in 1969 with a youthful side, managed by Bruno Pesaola. The Viola fell off in the years after, but did win the Coppa Italia in 1975. Fiorentina were one win away from another Scudetto in 1982 but lost on the final day. In 1990, Fiorentina were runners up in the UEFA Cup, losing to Juventus.
Gabriel Batistuta was Fiorentina’s top scorer for nine consecutive seasons starting in 1991 and is their leading all-time scorer. With “Batigol,” Fiorentina won the Coppa Italia in 1996 and after he departed for Roma in 2001. ACF entered financial administration after the 2001-02 season and were reformed ahead of the 2002-03 season. They started out in Serie C2 but managed consecutive promotions to return to Serie A.

They have finished fourth on five occasions since returning to Serie A and been semifinalists in the Europa League twice.
