US Sassuolo Stats History
Sassuolo was founded in 1920 and spent most of their early seasons in the amateur divisions of Emilia Romagna. The Neroverdi first played in Serie D in 1968 and merged with other local clubs during this time to strengthen the team. However, they were in the sixth tier as recently as 1981.
Unlike most Serie A clubs, Sassuolo’s first professional season, in Serie C2, was in 1984. They were relegated back to Serie D in 1990 and finally returned to Serie C2 in 1998. There, they spent eight seasons until earning promotion to Serie C1 in 2006.
In the 2006-07 season, Sassuolo barely missed out on their first promotion to Serie B, finishing in second place in Serie C1 Girone A. The Sassuolo stats show that they earned their first promotion to Serie B one year later under Massimiliano Allegri.
Surprisingly, Sassuolo held their own in their first season in Serie B, even after Allegri departed. They finished in seventh place and made the promotion playoffs in both 2010 and 2012. However, they were eliminated in the semifinals on both occasions

In 2012-13, under Eusebio Di Francesco, Sassuolo won the Serie B title which ensured their first ever promotion to Serie A. An 18-year old Domenico Berardi emerged as one of Sassuolo’s best players and he’s left his mark on the US Sassuolo stats. Berardi has played his entire professional career with Sassuolo and is now their leading goal scorer all-time.
In Sassuolo’s first Serie A season, they narrowly escaped relegation and finished in 17th. The next season, Berardi finished with 15 league goals as Sassuolo finished in a comfortable 12th place. The 2015-16 season was the club’s best to date as they finished in an impressive sixth place and qualified for the Europa League.
Since then, Sassuolo have regularly finished mid-table in Serie A and have been a very competitive side. Their best finish in the Coppa Italia was a quarterfinals appearance in 2022.
Although the Serie A odds list Sassuolo at +50000 to win the Scudetto, they often perform well above expectations. With wins over Lazio, ACÂ Milan, Juventus and Inter in 2021-22, betting advice suggests Sassuolo often plays spoiler to bigger clubs.
