US Salernitana Stats & History
U.S. Salernitana was founded in 1919 and has spent the majority of their history in Serie B and Serie C. Early on in club history, Salernitana competed in the regional leagues.
They managed to reach Serie A for the first time in 1947 but were immediately relegated. Salernitana didn’t return until 1998-99. Salernitana stats imply that 1997 to 1999 was the best period in their history.
In 1997-98, Salernitana won Serie B and Marco Di Vaio led Serie B with 21 goals. In their second-ever Serie A season, Salernitana managed impressive wins over Juventus, Lazio, Roma and Inter. However, they finished one point shy of safety and were relegated.
The club went bankrupt in 2005 and was restarted as Salernitana Calcio 1919. The team started out in Serie C1, and they returned to Serie B in 2008. Unfortunately, Salernitana were excluded from Italian soccer entirely in 2011 after failing to appeal a decision by the Commissione di Vigilanza sulle Società di Calcio Professionistiche.

US Salernitana 1919 Team Records
Salernitana were once again revived and their name was changed back to US Salernitana in 2012. Starting out in the fourth tier, Salernitana managed to earn promotion to Serie A within 10 years.
In 2021-22, Salernitana started off rather slowly. They managed to gain just one point from their first six matches, and the Serie A odds had them listed as relegation favorites. Coach Fabrizio Castori was fired in October, and things looked bleak as Salernitana were last in Serie A heading into 2022.
US Salernitana team stats show that they gained an impressive 18 points from their last 15 matches. With 31 points in total, Salernitana just barely avoided relegation with the fewest points ever of any team to survive the drop.
Betting advice suggests that Salernitana will once again be relegation candidates in 2022-23. Leading scorer in 2021-22, Federico Bonazzoli, returned to parent club Sampdoria at the conclusion of his loan. Last season, Salernitana managed just seven wins in 38 matches.
