Granada FC was founded in 1931 as Recreativo de Granada and started play in the regional leagues. One of the more notable early Granada FC stats is the fact that they earned three straight promotions in their first three seasons. So, they advanced to the second tier by 1934.
The Nazaries first entered La Liga in 1941-42 and finished in tenth place. Cesar Rodriguez Alvarez set and still holds a top flight club record with 26 goals in the 1941-42 season. Their best finish in their first spell in La Liga was eighth place in 1943-44. Granada were relegated in 1945 and a 12-year stay in the second division followed.
Granada returned to La Liga for a second time in 1957 and one of the most impressive Granada FC stats occurred in 1959. The Nazaries made the Copa Del Rey final for the first and only time but lost 4-1 to Barcelona.
Their longest-ever spell in the top flight was for eight seasons between 1968 and 1976. Granada finished in a club-record sixth place in both 1972 and 1974. Granada finished out the ‘70s in the second division after relegation in 1976. However, they spent a solid chunk of the ‘80s and all of the ‘90s in the third tier.

Granada got relegated from the Segunda Division B in 2002, dropping down to the fourth tier Tercera Division. After four seasons, they earned promotion back to the Segunda Division B. The club managed two successive promotions in 2010 and 2011 to return to La Liga for the first time in 35 years.
The Andalusian club played seven seasons in La Liga in the 2010s and were mostly in the bottom half. In 2019-20, Granada outperformed their La Liga odds and finished seventh. That meant they clinched qualification to the Europa League for the first time in their history. Granada made a run in the competition but went out in the quarterfinals.
In 2021-22, Granada were relegated on the final day as they drew and Cadiz won. Betting advice suggests Granada are candidates for promotion back to La Liga in 2022-23.
