Besiktas JK Stats & History
Besiktas J.K. comes from Bereket Gymnastics Club, which was founded in 1903. Besiktas was the first sports club registered with the Ottoman Empire in 1910. In 1911, the club started playing soccer.
In 1923-24, Besiktas became the Istanbul Football League’s first champion. The first Turkish championship in the Besiktas JK stats is from 1934. They defeated Altay 3-1 in the final. They set a record in the early 40s with five consecutive Istanbul Football League championships.
They found more success in the 40s with Turkish National League wins in 1944 and 1947. Turkish soccer turned professional in 1952 and the predecessor to the Super Lig, the Milli Lig, was created in 1959. The first Super Lig title in the Besiktas JK stats was in 1960. The following season, they became the first Turkish club to participate in the European Cup, now renamed the UEFA Champions League.
In 1966 and 1967, Besiktas won back-to-back Turkish league titles for the first time. However, they went through a period of decline over the next 15 years, with their only trophy a Turkish Cup title in 1975. The 80s were a relatively successful decade for Besiktas, though, with three major trophies. They also reached the European Cup quarterfinals in 1987, their best finish in the competition.

Besiktas JK Team Records
Besiktas had one of their best runs in the 90s. They won three straight Super Lig titles in 1990, 1991 and 1992. Incredibly, they became the only team to win the Super Lig undefeated in 1992. Besiktas also won the league in 1995 and three Turkish Cup titles in the 90s.
The club’s success has continued into the 21st century as they have regularly played in UEFA competitions. Besiktas reached the quarterfinals of the 2002-03 UEFA Cup and won the Turkish league that season. They completed their second domestic double in 2021 with a league and Turkish Cup win.
Betting advice for the 2022-23 season involves being cautious with taking Besiktas on the road. They won just five of their 19 matches away from home in 2021-22. With a sixth place finish in 2021-22, Besiktas missed out on European competition altogether, hence, you won’t be able to bet on their Champions League odds this season.
