2023 Bali Major Format

Valve split the 2023 Bali Major into two stages: the Group Stage initiates the competition, paving the way for the intense battles of the Playoffs.

During the 2023 Bali Major Group Stage, the 18 teams are split into two groups, comprising nine teams each. Through a single round-robin format featuring best-of-two matches, the teams will battle it out to secure their place in the Playoffs.

Within each group of the 2023 Bali Major, a fierce battle will unfold as six teams out of the nine secure Playoff spots. The top four teams from each group will earn coveted spots in the upper bracket, while the fifth and sixth-placed teams will face the challenge of starting from the lower bracket.

As for the bottom three teams in each group, they will face early elimination during the Bali Major. The playoffs feature a double-elimination format will be adopted, where all matches, except the Grand Final, will be best-of-three. The Grand Final will feature an exhilarating complete best-of-five series.

Teams to Watch at the 2023 Bali Major

The best of the best DOTA2 teams will be at the 2023 Bali Major, and even a couple of new faces are joining the fold! Every DOTA2 news outlet has Gaimin Gladiators as the clear favorite going into the 2023 Bali Major. However, that does not make them the top team to watch for DOTA2 esports fans and bettors.

Those three teams are Bleed Esports, Team Aster, and Evil Geniuses.

Evil Geniuses

The South American superstars, Evil Geniuses, have mostly gone under the radar despite their consistent results throughout DPC 2023. They placed fourth and fifth place at Berlin and Lima Majors, respectively, so that’s a good sign the young talents in EG are still worth the hype going into the 2023 Balir Major. For those who don’t know, the EG line-up comprised ex-Thunder Awaken and beastcoast players that rocked the TI11 fans with their phenomenal performance.

Team Aster

The highly-anticipated Team Aster needs no introduction after a parade of recognition and hype surrounding its newest member. Having SumaiL as their mid-player is arguably the most impactful roster change Aster had this season. Fans have high hopes for the King to deliver. It’s best not to place Team Aster amongst the top three at the 2023 Bali Major. They can easily get there with their talent, but it’s still too early to place them there.

Bleed Esports

Debuting in their first major is Bleed Esports from Southeast Asia. With no former accomplishments on the international level, it’s far-fetched to consider Bleed among the potential top eights in the 2023 Bali Major. In addition, Bleed won first place in SEA Division 1, which puts them well above your average SEA team.
