NFL Week 1

Be sure to check the odds for this week. The Buffalo Bills are meeting the Los Angeles Rams in the annual NFL Kickoff Game.

Preview for this week

Week 1 of the NFL is one of the most highly-anticipated weeks of the year. Everyone feels good about their team and the moves they made in the offseason. This year is no different.

In the first game of the season, we have the Buffalo Bills taking on the defending Super Bowl Champion Los Angeles Rams. It was the Rams’ second trip to the Super Bowl in the last four seasons. After losing 13-3 to the New England Patriots in 2019, the Rams ran it back with Jared Goff before trading him for Matthew Stafford prior to the start of last season. This time, the Rams took care of business with Stafford at the helm.

Meanwhile the Bills are coming off a loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in what may be the most entertaining playoff game of all time. After a loss in overtime, it prompted the NFL to change the rule to where both teams get at least one possession of the football. The spread is deadlocked at a pick ‘em.

Sunday Night Football

In the first Sunday Night Football game of the season, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will travel to take on the Dallas Cowboys. This is a rematch of last season’s NFL Kickoff Game after Tom Brady helped lead the Bucs to a Super Bowl in his first season with the team. It was far from a quiet offseason for the Bucs, as Brady announced his retirement, only to come back 40 days later.

The Bucs also fired their coach Bruce Arians just one season removed from winning the Super Bowl. However, there were rumors Brady and Arians didn’t see eye-to-eye on certain things. Most of the time when an organization is in a situation where they have to choose between the legendary player and a coach, they’ll back the player almost every time. Tood Bowles took over the head coaching role after being the team’s defensive coordinator since 2019.

Meanwhile, the Cowboys are coming off a particularly ugly playoff loss to the San Francisco 49ers. It was a game filled with sloppy penalties from Dallas. In the offseason, they decided to ship out Amari Cooper. CeeDee Lamb will now serve as the team’s No. 1 receiver.

The oddsmakers have Tampa favored by two.

Monday Night Football

Monday Night Football is set to be quite different this year. Joe Buck and Troy Aikman each signed deals with ESPN to be the play-by-play and color commentator, respectively after a long run at Fox.

That’s not all that will be different, as the first game of the season will see quarterback Russell Wilson in his first game with the Denver Broncos, taking on the team he helped lead to multiple Super Bowl appearances and one Super Bowl ring.

Seattle will seemingly trot out Drew Lock at quarterback, who the Seahawks got back in the trade for Wilson. They still have big-name receivers D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. They added Kenneth Walker III in the NFL Draft and will be making his pro debut. It remains to be seen whether or not he will take on lead backfield duties right away.
