Sky vs Wings Odds: Chicago Looks To Continue Winning in Arlington

Sky Have Found Plenty of Success in Wings Territory

The Chicago Sky have won just three games (3-6) since Emre Vatansever took over for James Wade this season. Chicago’s old coach and executive just packed up and left for the NBA forcing the team to readjust to its new coach. That’s why folks online continue to fade Chicago heading to Arlington. The Sky vs Wings odds give the visitors a 10-point spread against a team it has played well against.

Reaching for the Sky: Chicago Can Topple Odds in Arlington

The Sky are one of the WNBA’s better road teams this season. And heading to Arlington, Chicago has won five of its last six games here. Emre Vatansever’s crew has also battled hard despite its 3-6 record under him. But the Sky vs Wings odds continue to trend against Chicago due to this team’s limited ceiling.

Chicago has not beaten a winning team since it upset New York in June 4. Since then, it has gone 6-12 with all of its wins coming against teams under .500. And with a -4.4 net rating, both Chicago’s offense and defense are ranked below the league average. But Chicago will keep fighting as the coach speaks.

“This group, they’re so hungry, they’re so supportive. It makes it much easier for me. And we have some established offense and defense with coach James Wade,” Vatansever said of the team a few weeks back.

Indeed, Chicago’s dog mentality has allowed it to do better than the WNBA odds expect. As an underdog, Chicago has covered three of its last four spreads. This team rarely gets blown out and is also 4-0 ATS when given a 10+ point spread. It covered both Las Vegas and New York, the top two teams on the WNBA standings.

Chicago does it by playing a slow-paced style where it shuts down the 3-point line. The team allows just 6.3 3-pointers a game at a 33.1% clip. If it can also neutralize opponents’ inside games, the Sky will continue to grind out close decisions.

Wings Flying Under Las Vegas’s Enormous Shadow

Lost in the Las Vegas hype is the Dallas Wings’ improving season. The team has gone 9-3 in its last 12 games, and two of its losses came against the Aces. Arike Ogunbowale has been playing like an MVP and is coming off a 27-point explosion against Seattle. So maybe Dallas is not in Vegas’s league, but this team will be a force with its new core of players and coaching staff.

“I’m going to say it again, winning doesn’t suck.” head coach Latricia Tramell said following the team’s win over Seattle. “And what we’ve accomplished since day one with the new staff, predominantly a new team with only three returning players from last season, being in the top five both at this time offensively and defensively. Seeing great milestones from individuals that’s in turn helping our team.”

Along with Ogunbuwale, Satou Sabally and Teiara McCowan have been putting in work. The former is averaging 17.7 points and 9.2 rebounds while the latter is adding 12.8 points and 9.1 boards. Together, the trio form Seattle’s young core that is “the future of this league” as Sabally proudly proclaimed.

The Wings’ burgeoning WNBA stats have gotten oddsmakers to notice. Entering tonight as 10-point favorites, and -550 on the moneyline. Previously, Dallas covered a nine-point spread against Washington. The total is set at 165 slightly juiced to the over.

The team has a bad track record versus Chicago at home. But these Sky vs Wings odds indicate that that’s all in the past as Dallas has its best team since relocating in 2016.
