Lynx Look for First Win of Season Against Storm
The Minnesota Lynx and Seattle Storm meet for the third and final time this season. Minnesota will try to stave off a potential season sweep by Seattle after dropping two games to Sue Bird and company early in the season. The first time these two teams met was on opening day with the Storm earning the 97-74 victory in Seattle. The Storm won again back on June 14, edging the Lynx by a narrow 81-79 margin at the Target Center in Minneapolis. Despite the second meeting being an extremely close game, the Lynx vs. Storm odds for Wednesday’s matchup are set at Seattle -6.5 while the total is at 161.5.

With a 19-12 overall record, the Seattle Storm have already punched their ticket to the WNBA playoffs. Their record is tied with the Washington Mystics but they currently sit in the fourth seed via a tiebreaker over Washington who is ranked fifth.
Unless we see a major turn of events for all teams over these next two weeks, it is very likely that Seattle and Washington will meet in the first round of the WNBA playoffs. Minnesota on the other hand is still fighting for a playoff spot. They currently sit just outside the playoff race in the 10th spot but are only one game back from the eighth and final postseason spot.
The Lynx schedule to finish out the season does not do them any favors. They play Atlanta and Phoenix before meeting Seattle again and finishing off the regular season with the Connecticut Sun. If the Lynx want to make the playoffs, they are going to need to pull off a few upsets.
You can bet that the Lynx are going to come into this game hungry to keep their season alive. They own the fourth-best offense in the league and we expect them to be feisty on both sides of the ball.
Minnesota is ranked second in opponent rebounding, giving up 32.3 boards per game. If they want a chance to win this one they’re going to have to keep player Breanna Stewart and Seattle’s bigs off the boards and limit their second-chance point opportunities.
The Lynx are on a two-game win streak, beating Atlanta and Los Angeles. They are feeling good about their performances as of late and are likely to carry that momentum into tonight.
While Seattle’s season overall has been very strong, their performance as of late has been shaky. They have only won two of their last six games with losses coming to the Chicago Sky, Phoenix Mercury, Connecticut Sun, and Washington Mystics.
The Storm’s offense has looked extremely inconsistent over that six-game stretch. Thankfully for Seattle, their defense ranks second in the league and is great at limiting their opponent’s points in transition.
It is also comforting for Storm fans to know that they have dominated the Lynx, not only this season but in recent history. Seattle has won 11 of their last 13 meetings with Minnesota, with their last outright loss to the Lynx coming back in 2017.
Knowing their history with Seattle, a win tonight is going to be tough for Minnesota; however, they are going to be the much more motivated team coming into tonight’s game – not only to avenge their past performance against Seattle but to keep their season alive.
