Texas A&M vs Miami (FL) Odds: No. 23 Aggies Favored on Road

Teams Looking to Erase Memories of 2022

It normally wouldn’t be a big thing for two teams with the tradition of Texas A&M and Miami (FL) to post opening-week victories over weak foes. But both finished 5-7 last year. So any win is a good win for these two teams. While this is technically just another non-conference game, it’s big for both NCAAF teams. The winner will feel that 2022 was just a fluke. The loser will wonder if it’s 2022 all over again. The Texas A&M vs Miami (FL) odds have the Aggies -5 and the total is 49.

Aggies Roll Over New Mexico

Texas A&M didn’t have any trouble with the Lobos, covering the 38.5-point spread with 10 unanswered fourth quarter points to account for the 52-10 final. The game went over the total of 50.5. The Aggies didn’t put up the type of stats normally seen with such a decisive victory. Texas A&M held a 411-222 yardage advantage. The Aggies scored touchdowns on their first five possessions and never looked back.

Conner Weigman threw for five touchdowns and backup QB Max Johnson threw for another. Texas A&M rushed for 134 yards, so they didn’t dominate the line of scrimmage quite like you would expect against New Mexico.

The Aggies’ defense got the job done, but it was one of the easier games on the Texas A&M NCAAF schedule this season. Texas A&M has a tough conference slate and the Hurricanes aren’t a pushover.

Miami Defense Up to the Challenge

The Hurricanes held Miami (OH) to nine first downs and 215 total yards in their opening game of the season. The RedHawks had three three-and-out drives in their first four possessions. Miami (FL) scored on the opening drive of the game and was never really challenged from that point forward.

The Hurricanes had 250 rushing yards and another 243 through the air. Tyler Van Dyke was 17 for 22 and 201 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Henry Parrish Jr. led the tram with 90 yards on the ground, while Mark Fletcher added 76 yards. Miami (FL) averaged 6.9 yards per attempt.

You can’t fault the Hurricane defense, which was solid. But the level of competition leaves a lot to be desired and the college football games are going to get tougher down the road. The Miami (FL) allowed the ‘Canes to easily cover the 16.5-point spread and keep the game under the total of 45.5.

Texas A&M 17, Miami (FL) 9 (2022)

Both teams were ranked when they met last year, but the college football line had the Aggies favored by 6.5. Texas A&M got the job done despite being outgained 392-264 in the contest. The Aggies recovered a Miami (FL) on the Hurricanes’ 28-yard line and scored a touchdown, giving them a 10-3 lead. The Hurricanes were able to move the ball, but had to settle for 22-, 28- and 34-yard field goals.

What to Expect

The Hurricanes are going to come out and try and run the football and use it to open the passing game. Rushing for 6.9 yards per carry as the Hurricanes did against the RedHawks is impressive regardless of who the opponent is.

Texas A&M would like to gain some yards on the ground, but don’t mind throwing the ball frequently if that’s what is needed. Miami (FL) held the RedHawks to 51 rushing yards in the season opener.

Who to Bet On?

The Texas A&M vs Miami (FL) odds are expecting a fairly competitive game, as witnessed by the small point spread. The Hurricanes haven’t been the greatest of teams against the spread at home lately. Miami (FL) is 11-15 against the spread at home since the start of the 2019 season. The Hurricanes are 1-2 ATS as a home underdog in that span.

The Texas A&M vs Miami (FL) odds on the total are pretty much where they should be, especially considering last year’s low-scoring game.

It’s a big revenge game for the Hurricanes, who probably were the better team on the field last season. But with the college football line holding at Texas A&M -5 and a total of 55, believe that the Hurricanes and the under offer the most value of any of the possible wagers.
