Upcoming College Football Season

The Georgia Bulldogs will be the reigning National Champions heading into the 2022 college football season, and Georgia will be looking to repeat. The Alabama Crimson Tide lost to them in that football game, and Alabama will look to get back into the college football playoff. What are some of the top teams’ headlines into 2022?

College Football Season

1. Alabama Crimson Tide

Alabama will be returning quarterback Bryce Young, who is projected to be one of the top picks in the 2023 NFL Draft. Young won the Heisman Trophy last season, and he will look to do it for a second consecutive season. They will have talent offensively, like running back Jahmyr Gibbs (transfer from Georgia Tech), but the defense needs to be better, and it hasn’t been what it used to be in the past.

2. Texas A & M Aggies

The Texas A & M Aggies are finally here and have arrived. All of Jimbo Fisher’s top recruiting classes are going to finally pay off. They have also used some of the transfer portals to make their roster even better. This could be the season that Texas A & M finally makes it to the college football playoff and dethrone the Alabama Crimson Tide in the SEC-West.

3. Ohio State Buckeyes

C.J. Stroud returns for another season at Ohio State, and he will be potentially one of the top quarterbacks taken in the 2023 NFL Draft. Stroud will have a plethora of wide receivers to throw to next year, like Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Marvin Harrison Jr. They also have talent in the backfield in TreVeyon Henderson.

4. Georgia Bulldogs

The Georgia Bulldogs had an elite defense last year under head coach Kirby Smart, and that was one of the reasons why they won the National Championship. Now, they have to reload, and it will take some time, and they could potentially be on a down year.

5. Baylor Bears

The way the Baylor Bears played defense last year in the All-State Sugar Bowl against the Ole Miss Rebels should have everyone’s attention for Baylor’s 2022 college football season. They are going to be flying all over the place and potentially the heavy favorites in the BIG12. The entire coaching staff remains intact and could be in potential play for the college football playoff this year.

6. Notre Dame Fighting Irish

Even though Brian Kelly is no longer there as the head coach (left for LSU head coaching job) and Marcus Freeman is the new head coach after being promoted from the defensive coordinator, they will be just fine at Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish always have talent on both sides of the football.

7. Utah Utes

They were in the Rose Bowl last year against the Ohio State Buckeyes and lost to them in a shootout. Utah will be favored to win the PAC-12 again this year, but watch out for Lincoln Riley and the USC Trojans. The Utah Utes have talent on both sides of the football. Quarterback Cam Rising returns. Gabe Reid is a linebacker who transferred from Stanford University.

Arkansas Razorbacks, Ole Miss Rebels, and Michigan State Spartans are other teams to watch
