The Bruins have won 20 of the last 21 games against the Coyotes. However, in Boston’s last trip to Arizona the Coyotes came away with a 4-3 win.

Winger James Van Riemsdyk is questionable and defenseman Derek Forbort is out for the Bruins.

This will be the final game of winger Jason Zucker’s three-game suspension for boarding for Arizona. The Coyotes will also be without forwards Travis Boyd, Barrett Hayton, Bryan Little and Jakub Voracek.

Boston is 3-2-1 in the second game when playing on consecutive days.

Boston is 3-0-1 when winning the first game of the back-to-back contests with a total of 15 goals being scored in those four games. Following a loss, Boston is 0-2 and the Bruins have been outscored 10-6.

With a game coming up on Thursday on the road against reigning Stanley Cup champion Vegas and former Bruins head coach Bruce Cassidy, Boston needs to take care of business against an Arizona team that has lost three games in a row.

The total has gone over in five of Boston’s last six games.

Tough Times in Arizona

It has not been the best of starts to 2024 for the Arizona Coyotes.

Arizona hasn’t led in any of the first three games of the season and has been outscored 15-4 in losses to the Florida Panthers, New York Islanders, and Winnipeg Jets. Arizona has been outscored 9-2 in the third period of those games.

The Coyotes had won seven of their previous eight home games and that included a pair of overtime wins over Colorado.

The total has gone under in 11 of Arizona’s last 16 games played in January.

Last Meeting

Lawson Crouse had two goals and an assist and Matias Maccelli had a pair of assists as the Coyotes ended a 19-game losing streak to the Bruins with a 4-3 win.

Crouse won the game with a goal with just 14 seconds to play after Boston tied it with a power-play goal. It was the third straight game between the NHL teams to finish over the total.

The Bruins lost the game despite outshooting Arizona 46-16.

Bruins vs Coyotes Betting Preview

Arizona needs to keep this as a 5-on-5 game as the Bruins rank in the top five on the power play and in penalty killing. Arizona is ranked 17th in penalty killing this season.

Boston has the sixth-best points percentage on the road this season thanks to a 12-5-4 record. Boston is +9 in goal differential in road games.

Arizona ranks 19th on the power play and 20th in penalty killing at home this NHL season.

Boston is 20-12-5 when listed as the favorite compared to an 8-17-1 mark for Arizona as the underdog.

The Bruins have covered in 12 of their first 21 road games with 11 of those contests going over the total.

The total has gone over in four of Boston’s last five games against Western Conference as well as in four of the previous five matchups versus Central Division squads. The total is set at six for this matchup.

When it comes to making NHL game predictions, with Boston coming off a loss and Arizona suffering three straight decisive home losses, it is hard to have much confidence in the host Coyotes even if Boston played an overtime game in Colorado on Monday.

It doesn’t help that multiple forwards are out for the Coyotes even if the injured or suspended Arizona forwards have combined for just 10 goals so far this season.
