Vegas Loses to Preds, Takes Point

The Vegas Golden Knights held leads of 3-0 and 4-1 into the third period against the Nashville Predators but allowed three goals in seven minutes to lose the lead in regulation and then the game in overtime (5-4), Tuesday. Bruce Cassidy was not pleased with the loss but the bottom line is the Knights did grab a road point against the Predators who extended their point streak to 18 games.

VGK managed to extend their point streak to four games but are still -4.18 units on the NHL season for the bettors. After producing a league-leading 17.20 units last season, Vegas has struggled to profit for bettors this season.

NHL team stats show there is one spot where VGK has been profitable and that’s as an underdog where the Knights are +2.84 units with a 12-11 overall record.

Unfortunately, most of that underdog success has come at home (6-1), on the road, bettors have been less fortunate with a 6-10 mark (-2.78 units). Vegas is ranked 14th in our current NHL power rankings, and eighth in the West.

Doors Coming off The Jets

Eight days ago, Winnipeg was alongside the Colorado Avalanche and the Dallas Stars in the Central Division. The Jets dropped the next four NHL games to fall five points behind the Stars and three behind the Avalanche. In those games, Winnipeg allowed 16 regulation goals and one more in overtime against the Edmonton Oilers in a loss Tuesday.

Coach Rick Bowness had scheduled a practice for Wednesday but decided to cancel to give his team some time off. Winnipeg has had difficulty putting together a solid 60 minutes, which was again evident against the Oilers.

The Jets, who needed two points, were down by two goals until Winnipeg woke up halfway through the third period when Brenden Dillon (8) scored at the 9:39 mark to bring the Jets within 3-2, then Sean Monahan tied it up at 10:39. Once again, for a team that is in desperate need of two points, the Jets can’t be relied on to produce winners as consistently as they did a month ago.

Winnipeg has fallen to ninth in our power rankings, and fifth in the West. The Jets are still seventh in the league with 3.79 units won overall, +4.88 units as a favorite (34-15), and 21-6 (+5.75 units) as a home favorite. No matter what side you decide to wager this will be one of the hockey scores to track closely.

Expect Tight Checking Game

We’ve been watching this series long enough to know that both teams don’t love each other, which will lead to a low-scoring, defensive affair. The Knights have cashed under tickets in five of their last seven games and are coming back with Logan Thompson (20-12-5, 2.72, .907) in net after call-up Juri Patera gave up five goals against Nashville.

The Jets will likely lean on Connor Hellebuyck (32-17-4, 2.42, .920). The Jets have lost six straight against Vegas and cashed overs in both games, we anticipate that both netminders will be on fire with very little room on the ice with both teams needing the two points.

That does it for our Golden Knights vs Jets betting lines preview, all the best with your NHL picks and parlays.
