Newey: An F1 Legend Contemplating Departure
Newey is a legend in F1 design circles. Since joining Red Bull in 2006, his cars have propelled the team to a staggering 13 F1 world championships – four for Sebastian Vettel and the last three for the unstoppable Max Verstappen.
His recent designs, crafted for the new ground-effect regulations, have been nearly unbeatable, with Red Bull claiming 25 of the last 27 Formula 1 races.

However, F1 news suggests Newey has informally expressed a desire to move on. Speculation points out that everything could be related to the internal struggle that takes place at Red Bull and that began with the Chris Horner drama. All this internal conflict is creating a bad work environment, and that’s not sitting well with Newey.

Red Bull Scrambles to Contain the Damage
Red Bull is understandably eager to keep Newey on board. He’s not just a designer; he’s a driving force behind their success. In an attempt to tone down the rumors, the energy drinks team issued a statement indicating that Newey is still under contract.
“Adrian is contracted until at least the end of 2025, and we are unaware of him joining any other team.” It is mentioned in the statement.
Newey Could have a Domino Effect
There are rumors that billionaire owner Lawrence Stroll of Aston Martin might have tempted Adrian Newey with a big offer to join their team. If Newey jumps ship, speculation is that star driver Max Verstappen could follow him, chasing a car that keeps him winning championships. This could be a double win for Aston Martin!

Meanwhile, Lance Stroll, Stroll’s son and current Aston Martin driver, hasn’t been performing as well in the current F1 schedule. This could lead to him losing his seat next year, opening the door for Verstappen (or another top driver) to join the team.
The coming weeks and months will be crucial for Red Bull. Can they convince Newey to stay? Will they be able to address any internal issues to create a stable environment for both Newey and Verstappen? One thing’s for sure: the future of Red Bull’s dominance in F1 is hanging in the balance.
