Why the Push to End College Prop Bets?
In a recent statement, Baker highlighted these bets are causing some major problems. Not only are they making things kinda sketchy for the fairness of the games’ NCAA basketball odds, but some athletes, both in college and even the pros, are getting harassed because of them.
That’s just not right. The NCAA wants to make sure these young players are safe and that college sports stay a level playing field.

He further emphasized the need for action, urging states to follow in the footsteps of Ohio, Vermont, Maryland, and others by banning college prop bets from all betting markets.
The Controversy Surrounding College Prop Bets
Prop bets, which involve placing wagers on specific occurrences during a game, have been at the center of recent gambling scandals in sports. Last season, Alabama baseball coach Brad Bohannon was fired amid a betting scandal, leading to a 15-year show-cause penalty from the NCAA.
