Los Angeles Dodgers Stats & Team History
The Los Angeles Dodgers are one of the greatest franchises in the MLB, with the second most World Series appearances with 21 and sixth having most wins, with seven. They were officially founded in Brooklyn, New York City, NY in 1883, originally named the Brooklyn Grays. From 1883 to 1932, the team would go through seven different names before finally settling on the Dodgers. In 1958, the team relocated to Los Angeles, becoming the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Dodgers team stats showed that they won their first World Series in 1955, while still in Brooklyn, after reaching the World Series nine times before finally succeeding. Because of this, their unofficial team slogan became: “Wait Till Next Year.” While in Brooklyn, the team signed Jackie Robinson, hence becoming the first African American player to play in the MLB.
After moving to Los Angeles, the Dodgers team stats improved, winning a World Series in their second season in their new home. After winning a World Series in 1988, the franchise went on a drought for 32 years, seeing them lose back-to-back World Series in 2017 and 2018. The Dodgers finally ended the drought in 2020.
