Texas Rangers Stats & Team History
The Texas Rangers were founded in 1961 as an expansion team named the Washington Senators. They took over the name after the previous franchise by that name relocated to Minnesota to become the Twins. While in Washington, the team did not make the playoffs and relocated to Arlington, Texas in 1972, changing the name to the Texas Rangers. The Rangers did not make the playoffs until 1996 when they made three out of the following four seasons. Another drought followed until 2010, when the Rangers had back-to-back appearances in the World Series, losing both.
The Texas Rangers team stats feature one of the league’s best catchers in Ivan Rodriguez. The Rangers suffered as they took 34 years to make their first postseason appearance.
