Arsenal vs West Ham Odds & Preview

London Derby on Thursday

Arsenal Look to Stay on Top of EPL Table

With Saturday’s draw at Liverpool, Arsenal remained on top of the Premier League table. Mikel Arteta’s side will be looking to keep things that way when they host West Ham on Thursday in a Premier League clash. The Hammers have won their last two Premier League matches and are coming off a 2-0 win over Manchester United. West Ham will make the short trip to North London for Thursday’s game but have rarely found success in EPL matches vs. Arsenal in recent seasons. For this London Derby, let’s check out the Arsenal vs West Ham odds.

Head-to-Head

This is the second opportunity to bet on the Arsenal vs West Ham odds in the 2023-24 season. On November 1st, West Ham defeated Arsenal 3-1 in the EFL Cup round of 16. In last season’s Premier League fixtures, Arsenal went unbeaten with a win and a draw. Arsenal completed a comeback win at the Emirates but blew a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 at the London Stadium. Notably, Arsenal are unbeaten in their last eight Premier League matches vs. West Ham.

Arsenal Survive at Anfield

Arsenal survived their top of the table clash with Liverpool last Saturday and came away from Anfield with a 1-1 draw. The Gunners, who have scored the most goals in the league from set pieces this season, opened up the scoring just a few minutes in. Martin Odegaard sent in a free kick that Gabriel Magalhaes headed past Alisson. Mo Salah ended up producing a moment of brilliance by beating Oleksandr Zinchenko and curling a left-footed shot in the back of the net to equalize.

Liverpool had an excellent chance to go ahead once and for all on a four-on-one breakaway in the second half. However, Trent Alexander-Arnold hit the crossbar and the match finished all square. Arsenal have conceded just 16 goals in 18 Premier League matches this season. The center back pairing of Gabriel and William Saliba has been superb this season. The Gunners also seem to be able to withstand pressure better than they did in 2022-23, where they blew the title to Manchester City.

The Gunners figure to be a popular pick for soccer betting going forward. Currently, they sit at +250 odds to win the title. No Arsenal player has scored more than five Premier League goals this season but seven have three or more. Kai Havertz, who has become a staple of Mikel Arteta’s midfield, is one of those players. He’s suspended for this match, while Jurrien Timber, Thomas Partey, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Fabio Vieira are out injured.

West Ham Struggling on the Road

West Ham have played quite well at the London Stadium recently. They have three consecutive home wins in all competitions and have kept shutouts in each one. It’s the first time they’ve managed three or more consecutive home shutout wins since September 2012. On Saturday, West Ham defeated Manchester United 2-0 as Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus got on the scoresheet.

However, the Hammers have often struggled away from home. They lost 5-1 to Liverpool in the EFL Cup Quarter-finals last week. David Moyes’ side also fell 5-0 to Fulham in their last road Premier League match. West Ham’s Premier League results have been up and down this season but they are currently in sixth place, with a 9-3-6 record. Lucas Paqueta has been a standout performer in recent weeks.

The Brazilian has been involved in all five of West Ham’s goals in their last two EPL matches. He’s provided four assists in the last two and consistently starts counter attacks with his incisive passing. Kudus and Bowen are also capable of giving the Gunners problems on Thursday. Michail Antonio is out injured for West Ham, while Nayef Aguerd could miss this match due to an illness.

Match Analysis & Odds

This figures to be Declan Rice’s first start against the club he used to captain. Rice has slotted seamlessly into Arsenal’s midfield since joining from West Ham and has been one of their best players. West Ham used the funds from their former captain’s sale on Kudus, Edson Alvarez and James Ward-Prowse. Rice’s presence means that Arsenal should win the midfield battle, even with Havertz out here.

Currently, the Arsenal vs West Ham odds price the Gunners as -300 favorites for Thursday’s match. They’re 1.5-goal favorites as Arsenal -1.5 comes in at -105 odds. West Ham are 4-1-4 on the road in the EPL this season and they’re +700 underdogs here. Bettors can take West Ham +1.5 at -115 odds and Arsenal have only two of the last seven EPL meetings by more than a one-goal margin.

Both teams have scored in five of the last Arsenal vs. West Ham Premier League matches. Both over and under three goals are priced at -110 odds for this one. Arsenal are on a five-game home winning streak in EPL matches and they’re an unbeaten 7-2-0 at the Emirates. They’ve also averaged well over two goals per game at home this season.
