UEFA Euro Qualifiers Ukraine vs England Odds

England Nearing Qualification

Ukraine Host England in Poland

England may have suffered relegation in the recent UEFA Nations League but they’ve been excellent in Euro qualifiers. The Three Lions have won all four of their matches heading into Saturday’s match vs Ukraine. With the ongoing conflict, Ukraine are still hosting matches in other countries and Saturday’s match is in Poland. Ukraine are still in the running for Euro qualification, with two wins from three matches. We’ll preview the Ukraine vs England odds from a crucial Group C meeting.

⚽ Ukraine vs England ⚽

Day/Time:
Location: Stadion Miejski Wrocław, Wroclaw, Poland

Head-to-Head

Back in March, England won the reverse fixture 2-0 as Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka got on the scoresheet. England were -420 favorites and 1.5-goal favorites on the Euro 2024 schedule for qualifying. England also defeated Ukraine 4-0 in the Euro 2020 quarterfinals and are unbeaten vs the Blue and Yellow in the last four meetings. Ukraine have only won one of their nine matches vs England all-time.

Ukraine: Capable of Competing

    • Standings: 2-1, 2nd Group C
    • Next Match: Sep. 12 at Italy
    • Key Injuries/Suspensions: D Eduard Sobol (Out), M Mykola Shaparenko (Out)

Even though Ukraine haven’t played a match on home soil since late 2021, they’ve lost just two of their last 10 games. They find themselves in one of the most challenging qualifying Euro 2024 groups. Italy and England are heavily favored to advance to next Summer’s European Championship. Still, Ukraine definitely have a chance and have won two of their first three qualifiers.

Ukraine picked up two wins in June, as they defeated North Macedonia 3-2 and Malta 1-0. Ukraine showed a lot of fight to come back from 2-0 down at North Macedonia and pick up a win. The Blue and Yellow are currently 1-2 ATS in qualifiers but did manage to pick up a 3-3 draw vs Germany in a June friendly.

Recall that Ukraine made it to the quarterfinals at Euro 2020 and can compete with most other European sides. Still, the Ukraine vs England odds price the Blue and Yellow as one-goal underdogs for this match. Players like Arsenal’s Oleksandr Zinchenko, Valencia’s Roman Yaremchuk and Dynamo Kyiv’s Andriy Yarmolenko will be key for Ukraine on Saturday.

England: Perfect 4-0 So Far

    • Standings: 4-0, 1st Group C
    • Next Match: Oct. 17 vs. Italy
    • Key Injuries/Suspensions: D John Stones (Out), D Reece James (Out), D Luke Shaw (Out), D/M Trent Alexander-Arnold (Out), M Masoun Mount (Out), F Jack Grealish (Out)

It’s been smooth sailing for England in Euro 2024 qualifiers thus far. They’ve won all four of their matches while outsourcing their opponents 15-1. Their last match, in June, finished in a 7-0 win over North Macedonia, who are not a terrible side by any means. In that match, Harry Kane found the net twice, and Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka scored his first hat trick for his country.

Saka and Kane are England’s two main men up front and James Maddison and Marcus Rashford split time on the left wing, back in June. Maddison, Rashford and Phil Foden are all contenders to be England’s third attacker on Sunday. England coach Gareth Southgate has raised some eyebrows by naming Harry Maguire and Kalvin Phillips to the squad once again despite neither of them being anywhere close to first choice for their clubs.

Notable snubs include Ben White, James Ward-Prowse and Raheem Sterling. Meanwhile, England have a number of players out injured for this batch of qualifiers. John Stones, Luke Shaw, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Jack Grealish all played in the match vs North Macedonia but are nursing injuries now. Southgate still has a talented squad at his disposal.

Match Analysis and Odds

Newly signed Bayern Munich star Harry Kane has scored three goals in two career appearances vs Ukraine. England’s all-time leading scorer is obviously a threat to get on the scoresheet in this one as well. Kane has scored in each of England’s four qualifiers so far and has five goals. Meanwhile, Bukayo Saka isn’t far behind, with four goals.

Ukraine have only scored four goals total in their first three matches and the Ukraine vs England odds price the Blue and Yellow as +685 underdogs for this one. Ukraine +1 comes in at +120 odds, while England -1 shows a -150 price. England have kept two straight shutouts vs Ukraine and have averaged three goals in those matches. So, England -1 certainly isn’t the worst pick on the odds board this weekend.

These teams were in the same FIFA World Cup qualifying group for Brazil 2014 and drew both of their matches there. A draw sits at +360 odds but England have improved immeasurably since that pair of draws. The Three Lions are -238 moneyline favorites for Saturday’s match, which could seal qualification to Euro 2024 depending on other results.
