Jazz vs Cavaliers Betting Preview: Cavs Ready to Rumble
Mitchell Set for Revenge

Cleveland Welcome Weary Jazz
The Cleveland Cavaliers will play host to an undermanned Jazz team as they continue their long home stretch. Here’s a look at our Jazz vs Cavaliers Betting Preview as we dive into some key basketball match ups in this one.
The Cavs come into this meeting having won three straight games, including the first two of their current six-game home stand. They needed OT to dispatch of a wounded Dallas team last time out and will be hoping for better execution against a dangerous Jazz team.
Utah will be without Collin Sexton once more, while Kelly Olynyk has also popped up as questionable on the official NBA injury report. The Jazz started their three-game east coast road trip with a 123-97 loss in Milwaukee.
The Cavs opened as 6.0-point favorites for this one, with the total set at 222.0 points. Some early money did come in on the Jazz as the market dropped to -5.5 for the home NBA team, but has since been pushed back to its opening number.
No More Sleep Walking for Cavs
Head coach JB Bickerstaff was critical of his teams focus in their game against the Mavs where the team trailed for large parts before eventually finding a way to eke out a win.
Dallas rested their entire starting five but still managed to give Cleveland an almighty scare down the stretch, with a potential Kemba Walker game-winner rimming out in the final moments of OT.
The Cavs are just 2.0 games back from the top seed in the Eastern Conference and with Donovan Mitchell facing his old team you can be sure that the effort and intensity will be there from opening tip in this one.
Mitchell is averaging 29.5 points per game on 50% shooting from the field this season as he shuns any doubts that he might hinder the style or development of the young Cavs. Utah have been susceptible to defending perimeter threats, with the team giving up an average of 27.67 points per game to opposing guards this season.
Mitchell should be able to get the looks he wants and given how well he’s shooting the basketball this season you can expect another high-scoring outing from him against his former team.
Jazz Keep Fighting
Despite cooling off from their hot-start to the season the Utah Jazz remain feisty and they’re certainly not a team anyone will be taking lightly going forward.
The team remains in the playoff picture in the West and while their odds to win NBA championship seems far flung; they’re establishing an identity as a hard-nosed regular season opponent.
The loss of someone like Sexton in this matchup will be telling given how effective Cleveland’s guards can be but their offense can still cause trouble for the Cavs out on the perimeter.
The Jazz are top-5 in three-point frequency and top-10 in efficiency from beyond the arc to match. The best way to avoid Cleveland’s twin tower defense inside is to be able to space the floor and that’s something they do as well as anyone in the league.
They’re 1-3 ATS in their last four games against teams that fit this profile and asking them to win by three or more possessions is a tough ask.`
While the Cavs should be able to win this matchup down the stretch we’ve seen them struggle to cover spreads against teams with similar offensive shot profiles. They’re 1-3 ATS in their last four games against teams that fit this profile and asking them to win by three or more possessions is a tough ask.`
Cleveland knows the importance of winning these games on their home floor and the fact they can move to within a game of the top spot in the NBA standings in the East should be motivation enough for them to come out on top.
The line value here however is with the Jazz and anything at +6.0 or better represents some nice value on the road team. That’s all for our Jazz vs Cavaliers Betting Preview but make sure you check back for more NBA analysis.
