Timberwolves vs Clippers Odds: LA Ready to Rumble

Kawhi, PG Leading Way for LA

Clippers Beginning to Look Like Themselves

The LA Clippers will look to back up their most impressive win of the season when they play host to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Let’s take a look at the Timberwolves vs Clippers Odds and see how these teams match up.

Kawhi Leonard looked like the best version of himself in the NBA teams big win over the Boston Celtics and he has not shown up on the injury report for this game, which means he will continue in the starting lineup for a third successive game.

The Timberwolves meanwhile continue without All-Star Karl-Anthony Towns and will hope for a better showing than the two performances they put forth in back-to-back losses in Portland.

The home team opened as 6.5-point favorites for this one with the total set at 223.5 points. Early money did look to push things toward the Timberwolves on the NBA point spread.

Clippers Continue Offensive Revival

The Clippers offense is a completely different system when Leonard and Paul George are on the floor together. Their ability to operate in the midrange and garner the attention of the defense provides a lot more opportunity on the perimeter for their guys to get good looks and put up a higher volume of three-point shots.

Over the past fortnight since Leonard and George returned to the rotations the Clippers rank top-10 in 3-point frequency and top-5 in 3-point efficiency.

Opening up the floor and creating lanes to the basket are what have helped propel this offense away from the foot of the league’s Offensive Ratings. They are still ranked 27th in Offensive Rating on the season but have been 12th in effective field goal percentage this month.

They will still be without Normal Powell for this one but despite missing another key scorer things do look positive for them in this matchup against Minnesota. The Timberwolves rank dead last in opponent effective field goal percentage this month and are bottom-5 in both 3-point frequency allowed and 3-point accuracy allowed.

Expect LA to again light it up from deep in this one and force Chris Finch into some difficult decisions on matchups and personnel.

Timberwolves Still Can’t Find Balance

The loss of Towns provided the opportunity for Minnesota to work with a more structured lineup around Rudy Gobert that would maximize the potential of the player and the team.

Despite some early promise things haven’t really fallen into place for Finch’s team as they rank among the worst defenses in the league over the past fortnight and struggle to get the most out of Anthony Edwards on offense.

Edwards has failed to meet expectations in a season where many had him primed to take a big leap in his development and work his way into All-Star contention after a memorable nba playoff series against the Memphis Grizzlies.

Whether it’s an issue with scheme or attitude remains up for debate and despite posting similar NBA player stats across the board to what we saw from him last season there’s no denying that something isn’t right with him in the current environment.

Gobert figures to be the perfect pick-and-roll partner for both Edwards and D’Angelo Russell, and while the latter seems to have rediscovered his form over the past couple weeks the team is in desperate need to have both their key scorers working in tandem is the team is ever going to fulfil its true potential.

The team is likely going to come up in NBA trade rumors over the coming month as the front office decides on whether to press ahead with the Gobert-Towns experiment or looks to pull the plug and move in a different direction.

With these teams currently trending in opposite directions it’s difficult to find value on the underdog here and the best spread bet would certainly be to trust the Clippers to continue building towards establishing themselves as a top team in the league.
