Will The Warriors Survive The Clippers Without Chris Paul?

Review Our Clippers vs Warriors Match Prediction For This NBA TV Game

The Los Angeles Clippers will play a second game of a back-to-back on the road against the Golden State Warriors on NBA TV.

The Clippers and Warriors have both put together disappointing starts to the season. Both NBA teams are below .500 heading into this game.

The Warriors are just 8-10, while the Clippers added a 131-117 win over the Kings last night to become one-game away from .500.

Uncover Exclusive Picks & Predictions From Our Experts.

Golden State’s Steph Curry has added nearly 30 points per game. However, Klay Thompson is second on the scoring list, with only 15.3 points per game.

On the other hand, the Clippers have Russell Westbrook coming off the bench after things didn’t work out well with Paul George, Kawhi Leonard, James Harden, and Westbrook on the floor simultaneously.

Can either team start to find some success tonight?

The Warriors are currently -4.5, with the total at 227.5 for this NBA matchup.

Clippers vs Warriors Match Prediction & Trends

The Clippers are coming into this game with a 7-10-0 against the spread record. Meanwhile, the Under has hit in 11 of 17 games to begin the year.

On the other hand, the Warriors have only gone 7-11 against the spread. However, they’re 3-7 in their last ten games and finally ended a five-game against-the-spread losing streak with a one-point loss to the Kings.

The Warriors lucked out as 1.5-point underdogs to cover in that game.

Still, the Over has hit in ten of 18 games to begin the year for the Warriors. The Over has been popular recently, hitting in five of Golden State’s last six games.

Los Angeles defeated the Warriors most recently on March 15, 2023, with a 134-126 win. However, both teams have been an even 5-5 against the spread in their last ten meetings.

James Harden’s Decline

James Harden used to be one of the best NBA players in the world. But after 11 games with the Clippers, it’s clear that Harden’s decline has begun. Sure, he scored 26 points last night.

However, so far, he’s lacked aggressiveness, and it’s hurt the Clippers on offense. When Harden does take a shot or two, he’s struggled to make them consistently.

He’s the third-leading scorer on the team. But he’s scoring just 15.1 points per game with a 45.8% field goal percentage. His assists are down to 6.2, and his rebounds are at 4.5 per game. This was a guy who used to earn triple-doubles easily.

Harden has become lazy! This year, he’s only attempted about 12% of shots inside the restricted area. Throughout his career, he’s attempted over 21% every single season. But he’s staying away from the paint and taking worse shots. It’s hurt the Clippers offensively.

Another Injury For Gary Payton II

Gary Payton II made a name for himself a couple of years ago with the Warriors. He was so good that he signed a new deal with the Blazers last season. Eventually, once the Blazers sold off their roster, the Warriors could get Payton II back on their team.

Payton II has been an excellent fit for the Warriors. However, he can’t stay on the court.

He’ll be sidelined with a torn right calf. While he wasn’t significantly impacting the box score, he was a big asset to this team.

Payton II averaged nearly six points and over three rebounds off the bench for Golden State this season.

Getting To The Line At Will

The Clippers haven’t been good offensively. We discussed James Harden, but the Clippers have had a lot of underperforming down the entire roster.

The Clippers are good at getting to the foul line. That at least won’t change against the Warriors, who have allowed a 23.3 free throw rate this season. However, getting good shots will be a challenge.

Opponents have only shot a 53.3% effective field goal percentage against the Warriors this season. That’s good for tenth in the NBA.

Los Angeles will have success on the offensive glass to earn some second chances. We think that’ll be enough to escape with the win on the road.

While the Clippers aren’t great offensively, the defense has made up for it. The Clippers have allowed 109.7 points per 100 possessions while giving up a 51.3% effective field goal percentage. Los Angeles is also adding 15% of turnovers per game this year and holding teams to a 19.5 free throw rate.

The Warriors have already listed Chris Paul as out for this game with a lower left leg contusion. That also won’t help the Warriors in their quest for another win.

Despite coming off a back-to-back, the Clippers should get back into the NBA Pacific division with a win in tonight’s game. The NBA schedule for today is massive, with plenty of exciting games. This one shouldn’t disappoint.

Our Clippers vs Warriors match prediction has the Clippers coming out on top. After looking at the NBA lines, we’ll take the Clippers at +4.5.
