Lions Have Been Tamed In Recent Matchups

Columbia was looking good to give the Ivy League tournament the home team in the field before dropping its last three games. Now the Lions have to play Cornell and Princeton Tigers, two of the three teams tied for the Ivy League over its final three games.

The Lions trail Brown and Harvard by a game in the race for the final spot in the Ivy League tournament.

Second-leading scorer Avery Brown has failed to score in double figures in each of his last four games, and during the three-game losing streak, he has scored 18 points on 4-of-20 shooting. That has put even more pressure on Geronimo Rubio De La Rosa. Keep that in mind when it comes to the Columbia vs Princeton betting odds.

When looking at the sports lines, the total has gone over in four of Columbia’s last five games.

Sophomores Leading the Tigers

Princeton is on a six-game winning streak to secure a spot in the Ivy League tournament.

Sophomore Xavian Lee is averaging 19.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 4.3 assists over those six games. Classmate Caden Pierce is putting up 16.3 points per game during that stretch, as Princeton has won those six games by an average of 10.3 points.

Lee and Pierce got valuable experience in helping the Tigers win the Ivy League tournament and then upset Arizona and Missouri in the 2023 NCAA tournament. That could factor into the Columbia vs Princeton betting odds.

Princeton opened the Ivy League portion of the schedule with three straight wins, including one against Columbia, before dropping back-to-back games. That was only a brief stumbling block before the Tigers began to sharpen their claws again.

Princeton is 3-6 against the spread in its last nine games.

Last Meeting

Host Columbia never led as Princeton took command midway through the second half on the way to the eight-point win.

Princeton restored a double-digit lead with less than 10 seconds to play, but Columbia was able to cover as the 13-point underdog.

Columbia vs Princeton Betting Preview

Columbia hasn’t defeated Princeton since 2018 and hasn’t won at Princeton since a 53-52 win as the eight-point underdog in 2014.

While Princeton doesn’t need to win to clinch a spot in the Ivy League tournament, there is an incentive to earn the top seed and face a team that will finish multiple games behind the other three teams in the NCAAB standings.

Princeton is 16-1 as a favorite this season, while Columbia Lions has lost eight of its 12 games as the underdog.

Princeton is 8-0 outright as a home favorite this season, with Columbia 2-6 as the road underdog. Princeton has covered in five of those games as the favorite at home, with Columbia 3-4-1 against the spread as a road underdog.

Six of Columbia’s 10 road games went over the total. Princeton has covered in seven of the last nine games against Columbia.

The total has gone over in four of Columbia’s last six games against Ivy League teams and eight of the previous 11 games played in March. The total is set at 143.5 for this matchup.

Columbia has lost its last three games by an average of five points, so going with the Lions to cover as the 13-point underdog could be the best way to proceed.
