Virginia vs UNC Odds: Expect Points In This ACC Bout

The Virginia Cavaliers Have Watched Their Games Go Over The Total 66.7% Of The Time

The North Carolina Tar Heels are looking to stay undefeated at home with an in-conference home game against the Virginia Cavaliers.

On paper, the Tar Heels look far and beyond better than Virginia. The Cavaliers have just one win in six games and are struggling to find any momentum.

But that’s also why North Carolina needs to put its heads down and give this game as much effort as the other games. Virginia’s got nothing to lose.

Take a look at the Virginia vs UNC odds for Saturday’s ACC matchup.

There’s Always Next Year for Virginia

The Virginia Cavaliers began the season 0-5. However, the Cavaliers just earned their first win against William & Mary. Unfortunately for Virginia, William & Mary isn’t an ACC school. They’re not even an FBS school.

So a 27-13 win isn’t even that impressive for Virginia at home.

However, we can admit that Virginia’s NCAAF schedule has been super hard.

The Cavaliers have lost to Tennessee, James Madison, Maryland, North Carolina State, and Boston College. Only Boston College was a game where Virginia had a chance on paper in the first half of the season.

Unfortunately for the Cavaliers, the schedule is even more challenging with North Carolina on the slate.

Hopefully, next year’s schedule doesn’t turn out to be as daunting as this year’s.

Tez Walker’s Impact For North Carolina

The North Carolina Tar Heels were undefeated before Tez Walker became eligible to play for the Tar Heels this season.

Previously, he had been held out from games due to the NCAA announcing his ineligibility for transferring a second time in college football.

The newly obtained documents eventually allowed Tez Walker to play for the Tar Heels.

Walker transferred from Kent State to North Carolina in December. He and North Carolina fought seven months for him to get on the field this season.

The junior receiver has played in two games. In those two games, he’s secured 12 catches for 175 yards, with three touchdowns.

UNC has scored at least 40 points in each game, and his impact has helped the Tar Heels become even better on the offensive side of the ball.

He gets to play with one of the Heisman runner-ups, Drake Maye. While Walker won’t win many awards due to his lack of playing time this season, he can certainly help Maye reach a Heisman trophy.

Walker and Maye must keep winning games and find a way into the College Football Playoff. With an undefeated record and an ACC Championship, North Carolina would have a serious chance.

Virginia vs UNC Odds

With a home game on deck, the North Carolina Tar Heels are 23.5-point favorites against the Virginia Cavaliers. Meanwhile, the total is sitting at 56.5.

Virginia has only won one game this season. That came last weekend against an FCS school. However, they’ve covered in four of six games, proving that they’ve just played a tough schedule and haven’t been able to come out victorious against other FBS schools.

The total has also reached the Over in four of six games this NCAAF season.

On the other hand, North Carolina is 5-1 against the spread this season. The Tar Heels have won all six games this season while being the favorite in all six games. The Tar Heels have also hit the Over and Under three times each to begin the year.

UNC is also 4-0 at home, while Virginia is 1-2 on the road. Although Virginia has won four of the last six games against the Tar Heels, North Carolina has won the previous two games.

North Carolina’s Powerful Offense

The North Carolina Tar Heels have earned over 500 yards of offense per game this season. This offense has played solid defenses like Minnesota and Miami, yet the offense has still managed over 500 yards per game.

They’re led by Drake Maye, who has earned 12 touchdown passes with 1,902 yards thrown. He’s also added four more touchdowns on the ground while gaining 184 yards rushing. So he’s accounted for over 2,000 yards in six games.

The run game has also looked great, with 184.3 yards per game on the ground. Omarion Hampton is nearing six yards per carry despite rushing 112 times already this year. He’s also got eight touchdowns.

Virginia’s run defense has struggled a lot. The Cavaliers have allowed 177 yards per game on the ground. Therefore, North Carolina should find easy success rushing the football.

While the Cavaliers are better in the secondary, Drake Maye will still beat the coverage. He’s one of the most elite quarterbacks in college football and now has Tez Walker on the field catching passes.

Virginia’s Struggles Begin With The Offensive Line

The Virginia Cavaliers don’t have the worst playmakers. They can’t make plays when the offensive line has been so bad.

Tony Muskett will get the start for the Cavaliers. He’s thrown for 573 yards with five touchdowns and two interceptions through three games. That’s not all that bad, despite his QBR sitting at 24.6. Meanwhile, Perris Jones has earned 5.7 yards per carry on 41 rushes this season as a senior.

The run game should have some success.

The Tar Heels have gotten better on defense over time. But they’ve still allowed nearly 360 yards per game, including 113.8 yards on the ground. There’s room for Virginia to have success offensively, too.

Therefore, we’re eying the Over 56 at these NCAAF odds. Virginia’s scores and odds don’t reflect how the season has gone. The Cavaliers can still stick around against North Carolina. They won’t win, but they’ll score some points to help push this game Over the total.
