Birmingham Stands Alone as UFL’s Last Remaining Unbeaten

UFL Week 4 Odds: Birmingham (-8) Again Biggest Betting Favorite

Can anyone challenge Birmingham for the UFL championship? It is still relatively early on the 2024 UFL schedule, but Skip Holtz’s Stallions look primed to build off their success of yesteryear. The Stallions won USFL titles in 2022 and 2023, and as we head into Week 4, they remain the UFL’s only unbeaten team.

There is little reason to think they will slow down anytime soon. Then again, things can change in a hurry.

As the weekend approaches, let’s look at the latest UFL Week 4 odds.

AJ McCarron has picked up where he left off last season, passing for 616 yards, five touchdowns and zero interceptions through three games. The Battlehawks (2-1) are reaping the benefits, averaging 29 points over the last two weeks as they sit back on the right side of .500.

Three of those scores have gone to Marcell Ateman, who has a team-high 177 receiving yards on 11 catches.

They have a real chance of building on their success against Memphis, which simply hasn’t looked the same since its Week 2 collapse to San Antonio. The Showboats (1-2) have been outscored 53-17 over their last five quarters, and there is little reason to think things will improve anytime soon.

St. Louis opens as a 7-point favorite (-120), and even that might not be enough given Memphis’ recent plight. The Battlehawks are also -345 on the moneyline, with Memphis +275 to pull off the upset. Meanwhile, the projected total is 45.5.

Location: Protective Stadium; Birmingham, Ala.
Day/Time: Streaming: FOX

D.C. is 2-1 after scratching out a 29-28 win over Arlington on Matthew McCrane‘s last-second, 49-yard field goal. The Defenders haven’t been able to recapture their form from last season, but they are at least trending in the right direction.

Keeping Jordan Ta’amu upright remains a priority. The reigning XFL Offensive Player of the Year is still the Defenders’ primary playmaker, throwing for 627 yards and rushing for 80. But he certainly could use some help, especially up front.

Things won’t get any easier against Birmingham, which has emerged as the UFL’s team to beat amid its 3-0 start. The Stallions—+140 favorites to win the championship—have outscored their first three opponents 80-41.

Adrian Martinez earned his first start in Week 3 and made the most of it, passing for 334 yards and two touchdowns in a 33-14 victory over Memphis. The former Nebraska star became the first player with a 300-yard passing game this season. He also leads the UFL with 161 rushing yards.

At -8, Birmingham is the biggest favorite on the UFL Week 4 odds board. It is also -395 on the moneyline, with D.C. +310 to win outright. The projected total of 47 is also the week’s highest figure.

Michigan Panthers Logo - Primary Logo - United Football League (UFL) Michigan Panthers at San Antonio Brahmas San Antonio Brahmas Logo - Primary Logo - United Football League (UFL)

Location: The Alamodome; San Antonio
Day/Time:
Streaming: FOX

Michigan is a surprising 2-1 after beating Houston 34-20. So much of what the Panthers do is predicated on E.J. Perry. A former two-time All-Ivy League quarterback at Brown, Perry has rushed for 102 yards (5.4 yards per carry) and a UFL-leading four touchdowns.

The Panthers’ ground game is dynamic, especially when Wes Hills (team-high 118 rushing yards) is factored into the mix.

San Antonio (2-1) has been equally impressive in the early going, thanks in large part to Chase Garbers. Garbers leads the UFL rankings with both a 70.8% completion rate and six touchdown passes. Jontre Kirklin (23 catches, 166 yards, 2 TDs) has emerged as his favorite target. The Brahmas are averaging 23.6 points per game.

This is shaping up to be the closest game on the UFL Week 4 odds board, with San Antonio a 1-point favorite (-105) and both teams -110 on the moneyline. The projected total is 41.

Location: Rice Stadium; Houston
Day/Time:
Streaming: FS1

Arlington and Houston are the two remaining winless UFL teams at 0-3. As such, their UFL title odds have plummeted to +2200 and +3500, respectively.

Fortunately for the Renegades, Luis Perez continues to perform at a high level. His 737 passing yards are a league-high. The Renegades’ biggest issue has been their defense, which has allowed at least 27 points in all three losses.

Perhaps they will fare better against Houston, which continues to rank near the bottom of the league in both yards and scoring.

Arlington is a 3-point favorite (-120) and -162 on the moneyline, with Houston +136 to win outright. The projected total is 46.5.
