Chicago White Sox Stats & Team History
Established in 1900, the Chicago White Sox were one of the founding members of Major League Baseball, playing in the inaugural season in 1901. The team was first founded as the Chicago White Stockings before shortening the name in 1904. In the first 20 years of the league, the team found success going to three World Series and winning two of them. Many of the White Sox’s team’s stats feature players from that period.
However, in the 1919 World Series, the team was accused of fixing games, leading to several of the players receiving lifelong bans. That started a long run of misfortune for the Chicago White Sox team stats, as they went 86 years without winning another World Series. They made the playoffs only four times, one run leading to a World Series loss until they won it all in 2005.
