Mbappe’s Last Stand as PSG Host Borussia Dortmund

PSG vs Dortmund Betting Lines Favor Parisians Despite First Leg Loss

Just 90 Minutes Stand Between Dortmund and UCL Final

Last Wednesday’s Champions League Semifinal first leg between Borussia Dortmund and PSG was a thrilling encounter despite the 1-0 scoreline in favor of Dortmund. Now, in what could be Kylian Mbappe’s last UCL game for PSG, the Parisians need to turn things around. At the moment, the PSG vs Dortmund betting odds still favor PSG to go through, despite their deficit. Just 90 minutes stand between visitors Dortmund and their first UCL Final since 2013. Still, Mbappe and PSG came back in the Quarters vs. Barcelona and could do it again here. Ahead of Tuesday’s Semifinal second leg, we’ll take a look at the odds and team news.

PSG vs Borussia Dortmund

Date, time:
Location: Parc des Princes, Paris, France

Head-to-Head

Last week, both Borussia Dortmund and PSG went for it in a match that was wide open at times. The difference was a 36th minute goal by Dortmund’s Niclas Füllkrug. Nico Schlotterbeck played the ball over the top for the big striker who took an excellent first touch and fired a left footed shot past PSG keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma. PSG hit the woodwork multiple times in the second half but couldn’t manage to grab an equalizer.

The 1-0 win was Dortmund’s first win over PSG on the UCL schedule in their last four matches. Last Wednesday’s PSG vs Dortmund betting odds listed Dortmund as +180 underdogs. In the group stage, these teams met twice as PSG won 2-0 at the Parc des Princes and they drew 1-1 in Germany. Dortmund still managed to finish in first place in the Group F UCL standings. PSG are an unbeaten 2-1-0 vs. Borussia Dortmund all-time at the Parc des Princes. Dortmund are still looking for their first road goal at PSG.

Paris Saint-Germain in Familiar Position

Last week, PSG center back Lucas Hernandez went off injured in the 42nd minute and Luis Enrique replaced him with Lucas Beraldo. Unfortunately, Hernandez tore his ACL and he’ll miss the rest of the season and this Summer’s Euros. Hernandez appeared in all of PSG’s previous UCL matches and we could see a Beraldo and Marquinhos pairing on Tuesday.

PSG, who have already clinched the Ligue 1 title, didn’t play over the weekend. Ligue 1 gave them another rest with a crucial Champions League fixture ahead of them. PSG were in a worse position than they’re in right now heading into the Quarter-Final second leg. The Parisians fell 3-2 to Barcelona at home in the first leg and needed a road victory to advance.

With their backs against the wall, PSG won 4-1 as Mbappe scored twice. Mbappe was quiet in the first leg vs. Borussia Dortmund but did hit the post. As he’s widely expected to join Real Madrid this Summer, he won’t want to leave PSG without a Champions League trophy. The French superstar ranks joint-first in the Champions League stats, with eight goals. Ousmane Dembele and Vitinha are other potential goal threats for PSG on Tuesday.

Fantastic Farewell for Dortmund Legend Reus

In his first match since announcing he’d be leaving Borussia Dortmund after 12 seasons, Marco Reus was the star of the show. In just his 16th Bundesliga start this season, he scored and provided two assists in a 5-1 win over Augsburg. He’s had an illustrious career but Reus has never won the Bundesliga or Champions League with Dortmund. He’s likely to come off the bench on Tuesday but he could play a part in helping the Black and Yellow get to a rare UCL Final.

With UCL football already clinched for next season, coach Edin Terzic named a squad almost entirely made up of substitutes on Saturday. They put in an excellent performance and gave the starters a much-needed rest. Terzic changed everyone except for keeper Gregor Kobel, who has been one of the best goalies in Europe this season. Dortmund may not have a world class player per se but they do have some excellent ones.

Julian Brandt and Marcel Sabitzer have been excellent in midfield lately. Sabitzer also leads the Champions League, with five assists. Wingers Jadon Sancho and Karim Adeyemi were at the top of their game in the last leg vs. PSG as well. Adeyemi did an incredible job tracking back and Sancho consistently beat his defender. Meanwhile, Mats Hummels turned back the clock in defense and Schlotterbeck certainly impressed. If Dortmund go through, it will be due to a team effort once again.

Match Analysis & Odds

With a one goal advantage heading into this match, Borussia Dortmund just need a draw to reach the Final. If PSG are able to win by a one goal margin here, they’ll force extra time. Meanwhile, a two goal PSG win would mean they advance to their first UCL Final since 2020. The PSG vs Dortmund betting odds do list the Parisians as -145 favorites to advance and -200 favorites to win this match.

Meanwhile, Dortmund sit at +115 odds to go through and just +525 odds to complete a Semifinal double over PSG. PSG have won just one of their last four home games, in all competitions, and have conceded in each one. Still, this is the most important match of their season and they’ll want to give their fans something to be proud of.

PSG -1 is priced at -120 odds, while Borussia Dortmund +1 shows even odds. A draw (+350) would be an excellent result for the visitors but don’t expect them to park the bus completely. Over three goals stand at -130 odds and we don’t expect another one goal game like last week. Both sides should have their opportunities and it’s a matter of who takes them. Plus, Mbappe’s big game experience shouldn’t be discounted.
