EPL: Newcastle vs Arsenal Betting Odds & Preview

Unbeaten Gunners Head to Newcastle

Blockbuster at St. James’ Park

Arsenal is unbeaten through ten Premier League matches this season. That record will certainly be put to the test on Saturday when the Gunners head on the road to St. James’ Park to take on Newcastle. Road matches at Newcastle are notoriously difficult but the Gunners did pick up a win there last season. As two current Champions League clubs face off, we’ll preview the Newcastle vs Arsenal betting odds.

NEW Newcastle vs Arsenal ARS

Day/Time:
Location: St James’ Park, Newcastle upon Tyne, England

Head-to-Head:

Last season, Arsenal managed to keep two shutouts vs. Newcastle United. The Premier League odds priced the Gunners as +185 underdogs for last season’s match at St. James’ Park but Arsenal managed to come away with a 2-0 win. Martin Odegaard opened up the scoring and Fabian Schar own goal sealed Arsenal’s victory. The reverse fixture finished in a scoreless draw. Since Eddie Howe took over as Newcastle coach, he’s managed a 1-1-1 record vs. Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.

Newcastle Add to Manchester United’s Misery

Eddie Howe named a squad filled with reserve players for Newcastle’s round of 16 EFL Cup match at Manchester United on Wednesday. Despite playing on the road at Old Trafford, the Magpies came away with an impressive 3-0 win over the defending champions. Miguel Almiron, Lewis Hall, and Joe Willock were all on the scoresheet for Newcastle.

Uncover Exclusive Picks & Predictions From Our Experts.

Newcastle’s side vs. Arsenal on Saturday will undoubtedly be much stronger but they’re dealing with a few injuries. It appears that Alexander Isak and Sven Botman could be out for the next few weeks. Expect Callum Wilson to start up top in Newcastle’s big matches in the meantime. Wilson scored twice last week in Newcastle’s 2-2 draw last weekend vs. Wolves, who show +1000 odds to be relegated from Premier League. Harvey Barnes, Elliot Anderson, and Jacob Murphy are also out injured while Sandro Tonali is banned for the rest of the season.

Regardless, Newcastle’s midfield trio of Joelinton, Sean Longstaff, and Bruno Guimaraes have the ability to cause Arsenal problems. Still, the Newcastle vs Arsenal betting odds price the hosts as +180 underdogs for this one. Newcastle lost at home last week in the Champions League to Borussia Dortmund but are 4-1 at St. James’ Park in the EPL this season.

Arsenal Falter Midweek

Arsenal’s midweek performance at West Ham in the EFL Cup was subpar. The Gunners fell behind 3-0 and could only grab one consolation goal as they crashed out of the competition. Granted, Mikel Arteta made six changes from the lineup that defeated Sheffield United 5-0 last weekend. In that match vs. the Blades, Eddie Nketiah scored his first-ever Premier League hat trick.

Fabio Vieira scored a penalty and Takehiro Tomiyasu also scored his first goal for the club in the win. Now, a look at the Arsenal standings shows that the Gunners are in second place in the Premier League. They’re one of just two unbeaten EPL teams, along with Tottenham. Even though they’re 7-3-0, Arsenal still haven’t been at their best this season.

It may be difficult for them to get there as Gabriel Jesus and Thomas Partey have picked up fresh injuries. They join Emile Smith-Rowe and Jurrien Timber on the sidelines. With Jesus out, expect Nketiah to continue to get big minutes. Consistency has been an issue for the Arsenal striker but this is a massive opportunity for him.

Match Analysis & Odds

This projects to be one of the most evenly-matched games of the weekend. In this pick’em, bettors can take Newcastle pk at even odds and Arsenal pk at -120. Note that both teams haven’t scored in any of the last ten meetings between these two sides. Newcastle are unbeaten in their last six EPL games but the Newcastle vs Arsenal betting odds price the Magpies as +180 underdogs.

Arsenal have compiled a 3-1-0 record on the road in the Premier League this season and are +150 favorites. They’ve averaged nearly three goals per game over their last five games but Newcastle has kept clean sheets in each of their last three EPL games.

A draw sits at +240 odds here and neither team would be too upset with coming away with a point from this one. None of the last five meetings have finished with three or more goals and both over and under 2.5 goals come in at -110 odds.
