EPL: Man City vs Bournemouth H2H Preview & Odds

City Dominate Manchester Derby

Bournemouth Grab First Win Under Iraola

Through nine Premier League matches, Bournemouth didn’t win a single game. New manager Andoni Iraola was starting to come under pressure but his Cherries beat Burnley 2-1 on Saturday. Now, Bournemouth could get a baptism of fire at the Etihad Stadium vs. Manchester City, who they’ve never beaten. City have been in good form ever since Rodri’s suspension ended and are coming off a 3-0 Manchester Derby victory. We’ll take a look at the Man City vs Bournemouth H2H odds as the Cherries go for their first-ever victory over City.

Head-to-Head:

The Man City vs Bournemouth H2H results have been as one-sided as it gets since Bournemouth first earned promotion to the Premier League in 2015. City have won all 12 of their EPL games vs. Bournemouth since then. Last season, City handily defeated the Cherries 4-1 and 4-0. Phil Foden got on the scoresheet in both matches. Nine of City’s 12 EPL victories over Bournemouth have come by a multi-goal margin. Over under betting could be popular in this one as each of the last five meetings, in all competitions, have finished with three or more goals.

Man City Back in Form

Since the end of the October international break, and the end of Rodri’s suspension, Manchester City is 3-0 in all competitions. During the Ballon d’Or nominees’ suspension, City were 0-3. The Spanish midfielder is one of the most important Man City players and he played the entire match in City’s 3-0 derby win over Manchester United. Erling Haaland scored twice in the victory.

Haaland leads the Premier League with 11 goals and his first goal last Sunday was on a penalty. In the second half, he was left wide open and headed home a Bernardo Silva cross. Haaland turned provider for Man City’s third goal when the Norwegian set up Phil Foden. There’s no doubt that City are the team to beat in Manchester and they’re going for a fourth straight EPL title. Currently, City are in third place, just two points behind current leaders Tottenham.

Kevin de Bruyne looks set to return in the next month or so, which figures to boost City’s title chances. Manchester City has turned the Etihad into a fortress and is currently 5-0 at home, in all competitions. Haaland has been on a roll in the last few matches, with five goals in his last three games. However, City have kept just one clean sheet in their last seven matches.

Bournemouth Finally in Win Column

Bournemouth finally got their first win of the season last weekend as they defeated Burnley, 2-1. The Cherries fell behind in the match but Andoni Iraola’s men pulled off an impressive comeback. Antoine Semenyo and Philip Billing got on the scoresheet in the victory which bumped Bournemouth up to 17th in the English Premier League standings.

At least for now, the Cherries are outside of the relegation zone but they could be fighting for survival this season. Only Sheffield United and Burnley have conceded more goals than Bournemouth so far. Ionut Radu made his first start of the season in goal last Saturday as usual first choice Neto was out injured.

Neto didn’t play in the midweek loss to Liverpool in the EFL Cup and may not be the first choice anymore even if he’s healthy. Bournemouth’s inability to consistently get on the scoresheet has been another big problem this season as they’ve only scored eight goals. Dominic Solanke is responsible for four of those. Lewis Cook is out suspended as well and Tyler Adams is dealing with a long-term injury. Emiliano Marcondes and Ryan Fredericks are considered questionable.

Match Analysis & Odds

This is a match Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City should win and they’ll look to continue to build momentum. It’s the kind of match Erling Haaland will be licking his chops at and don’t be surprised if the Norwegian gets on the scoresheet multiple times. Still, AFC Bournemouth has looked a lot more confident over the last few games and it wouldn’t be shocking if the scoreline is respectable.

The Man City vs Bournemouth H2H odds currently list hosts City as massive -950 favorites. They’ve got a perfect record in the Premier League vs. Bournemouth and there’s a 90.5 percent implied chance it stays that way. Some might put a few dollars on Bournemouth at +2100 odds but even getting a draw here would be a huge moral victory for them. A deadlock displays +900 odds at present.

Spread betting could be of intrigue in this one, as Man City enters the match as 2.5-goal favorites. They covered that spread in both meetings last season and are priced at -115 odds to do so once again. Bettors can also take Bournemouth +2.5 at -105. City scored four goals alone in both matches vs. the Cherries last season and over 3.5 goals sit at -115 odds for the match.
