Quake World Championship 2023: vangeurR favored

Quake came out in 1996, but it continues to have a strong following of loyal players and competitors, with its esports scene still thriving. It’s one of the first shooters of its kind and has continued to inspire other esports titles today. The Quake World Championship 2023 is the biggest Quake event of the year, bringing the return of QuakeCon!

K1llsen was the Quake World Champion last year, with RAISY coming in second. Last year’s favorite, RAISY, lost to K1llsen in the finals 3-1, shocking Quake fans in the process.

The World Championship and QuakeCon esports schedule is Thursday, August 10, through Sunday, August 13. It will be held at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center in Grapevine, Texas. Twenty of the best Quake players in the world will converge here for the glory and that prize money!

Here’s everything you need to know about the Quake World Championship 2023.

Quake World Championship 2033 Format

The World Championship features two stages, the Group Stage and the playoffs. The top eight players with the best Quake championship stats gained an automatic berth to the playoff before the tournament started. Those eight teams are VengeuR, StrongSage, RAISY, ZanAku, rapha, nosfa, k1llsen, and maxter.

The group stage will be a round-robin style of play, with the top two teams advancing to the playoffs. I’m addition, and each game will play to a best of three.

The playoffs are straightforward, with it being a single elimination style with games played to a best-of-three. Players who lose in the opening round of the playoffs will drop to the loser’s bracket for a second chance at the grand final.

Top Picks

We’re just a few days away from the Quake World Championship 2023, and young and old fans are hyped and ready for it to start! The past few winners were k1llsen in 2022, RAISY in 2021, and rapha in 2020. Going into the tournament this year, vangeurR and rapha are the favorites. However, just because they are the favorites doesn’t mean they’re the top picks for esports begging.

Those five players are:

  • k1llsen (+450)
  • RAISY (+650)
  • DandyKing (+2000)
  • nosfa (+2500)
  • StrongSage (+3000)
