Feyenoord vs Roma ROM

Day/Time:
Location: De Kuip, Rotterdam, Netherlands

Head-to-Head Feyenoord vs Roma

This is the fourth opportunity to bet on the Feyenoord vs Roma odds over the last few seasons. Last season, these sides met in the Europa League Quarter-final. After Feyenoord won the first leg 1-0 at De Kuip, Roma won the second leg 2-1 and sent the fixture into extra time.

Stephan El Shaarawy and Lorenzo Pellegrini scored in extra time to give Roma a 4-2 aggregate victory. Roma also defeated Feyenoord 1-0 in the inaugural UEFA Europa Conference League final in 2022. Roma hold a 3-1-1 record in this fixture all-time.

Feyenoord Win Rotterdam Derby

On Sunday, Feyenoord contested the Rotterdam Derby vs local rivals Sparta Rotterdam. The score stayed level through one half at De Kuip. After the break, Feyenoord won a penalty which David Hancko converted. Another defender got on the scoresheet as Lutsharel Geertruida doubled Feyenoord’s lead. The match finished 2-0, which means Feyenoord remained five points ahead of Twente in second place in the Eredivisie.

With their nine-game unbeaten run, Feyenoord have been quite a decent pick for soccer betting lately. They were also quite competitive in the Champions League group stage, finishing with a -1 goal difference in a group that included Atletico Madrid, Lazio and Celtic. The defending Eredivisie champions are a high-scoring bunch and Santiago Gimenez is their most prolific forward.

The Mexican international has scored 19 goals in 20 Eredivisie appearances this season and is one to watch for on Thursday. Midfielders Calvin Stengs and Quinten Timber can both score and create for their teammates as well. Feyenoord have also kept five straight clean sheets, in all competitions, but keeping one vs Roma will be a greater challenge. It could be even tougher with starting keeper Justin Bijlow and defender Gernot Trauner out.

Roma Fall Short vs Serie A Leaders

Roma lost for the first time under Daniele De Rossi when they took on Serie A leaders Inter Milan over the weekend. The Giallorossi took a 2-1 lead but conceded three unanswered goals to fall 4-2 at the Stadio Olimpico. Still, early signs from De Rossi’s tenure are quite positive as Roma have had no problems scoring goals. They’ve scored twice in each of their last four Europa League matches overall.

However, Roma’s road record has left a lot to be desired this season. They’ve won just four of their 15 games away from home, in all competitions. At 4-1-1, Roma finished in second place, behind Slavia Prague, in the Group G Europa league standings. Jose Mourinho led Roma to back-to-back European finals but this will be De Rossi’s first European match in charge.

Romelu Lukaku scored five goals in the group stage and he ranks second in the Europa League stats at the moment. Roma had a few players away at the Africa Cup of Nations previously but they now have a full roster, aside from the injured Tammy Abraham. When Paulo Dybala is healthy, Roma are a different animal and look for him to play a key role on Thursday.

Match Analysis & Odds

Every 90-minute match these teams have played vs each other has either finished in a draw or with a one-goal margin. Feyenoord and Roma match up quite well and this could very well be one of the most competitive fixtures of the Play-off round. Although Feyenoord don’t come from one of the top leagues, they are a top team and fully belonged in the Champions League.

Here, the Feyenoord vs Roma odds price the hosts as -110 favorites for the first leg. They’re unbeaten in their last six home games and have fallen just twice at De Kuip this season. Roma’s record away from home is abysmal and they’re +295 underdogs for Thursday’s match. Meanwhile, a draw comes in at +255.

Bettors can also take Feyenoord -0.5 at -110 and Roma +0.5 at -120. When these offenses are clicking, they’re difficult to contain. Both over and under 2.5 goals display -115 odds and three of the five previous 90-minute meetings have finished with two goals or fewer.
