Seven Rounds of 16 Berths Up for Grabs

The Copa Libertadores is South America’s premier international club competition. Like the UEFA Champions League and European tournaments, it follows a group stage and knockout stage format. It features 32 teams in the group stage, which finishes up this week. There are still plenty of places in the round of 16 up for grabs and a bunch of matches for bettors to be aware of. Let’s take a look at the odds for the Copa Libertadores Group Stage final.

Matches of the Week

Libertad vs Atletico Mineiro

Date, time:

The Copa Libertadores coincides with the CONCACAF game schedule for the Gold Cup. Libertad of Paraguay take on Brazil’s Atletico Mineiro on Tuesday just before Canada host Guadeloupe in the Gold Cup. Atletico Mineiro will make the knockout stage unless they lose by two or more goals here.

Atletico Mineiro are +110 ATS and moneyline favorites here and they have the competition’s leading scorer, Paulinho. Bettors may also recognize the name Hulk on the Mineiro roster and the former Brazil international is still a productive player.

Libertad +0.5 comes in at -140 odds while the hosts also show +240 odds to get a win. Libertad did manage to get a 1-0 win in the reverse fixture. A draw displays +230 odds here and under 2.5 goals sit at -145 odds.

River Plate vs The Strongest

Date, time:

Group D is the most wide open group, which should make for an excellent Copa Libertadores Group Stage final. Argentinian club River Plate take on Bolivian side The Strongest at the same time Brazil’s Fluminense host Peruvian side Sporting Cristal.

Right now, River Plate are in second place on seven points, along with Sporting Cristal. River Plate hold the tiebreaker on goals but will absolutely be looking for a win here. The Strongest, on six points, need a win just to keep their hopes alive, with Fluminense on nine. River Plate are massive favorites here, though.

The hosts come in as 2.5 goal favorites at +105 odds to cover the spread. River Plate also stand at -1000 moneyline odds but they drew the reverse fixture 1-1. Another draw shows +800 odds. Meanwhile, The Strongest sit at -135 odds to cover and +2200 odds to pull off a big upset. Over three goals display -130 odds for the match as the strongest lost their league match 6-3 over the weekend.

Fluminense vs Sporting Cristal

Date, time:

Fluminense just need a draw vs. Sporting Cristal on Tuesday to secure a knockout stage berth. A draw, which likely eliminates Sporting Cristal, comes in at +550 odds. Fluminense managed to get a 3-1 win in the reverse fixture as German Cano scored twice. Here, they’re two-goal favorites at +105 odds. Fluminense pulled off a comeback win over Bahia on Saturday and are -550 moneyline favorites now.

Sporting Cristal +2 displays -135 odds for Tuesday’s match. Notably, the Peruvian side are on an 11-game unbeaten run heading into this match, in all competitions. Punters can bet on Cristal to pull off a big upset at +1300 odds. Under three goals sit at -125 odds but both teams have scored in four of Cristal’s five previous Copa Libertadores group stage games.

Internacional vs Independiente Medellin

Date, time:

With Nacional taking on winless Metropolitanos at the same time, Internacional vs. Independiente is a crucial match. As things currently stand, Independiente are in first place in Group B. The Colombian side have 10 points, while Internacional is one point behind and Nacional are on eight.

So, whoever wins this Copa Libertadores Group stage final match will be the Group B champion. The loser could very well be on their way home. Internacional are one-goal home favorites here and these teams drew 1-1 in Medellin back in April. A draw shows +320 odds, while Internacional show -125 odds to cover the spread.

Independiente +1 displays -105 odds and a draw would ensure they make the round of 16. Meanwhile, an Internacional win is priced at -215 odds and the visitors are +550 moneyline underdogs. Both teams have scored in each of their group stage matches so far but both over and under 2.5 goals sit at -115 odds for the match.

Independiente del Valle vs Argentinos Juniors

Date, time:

While Jamaica face Trinidad and Tobago and the USA host St. Kitts and Nevis for a top spot in the CONCACAF Gold Cup standings, Independiente del Valle take on Argentinos Juniors. Both teams can rest easy knowing that they’re through to the round of 16. However, the winner will finish first in the Group E standings.

Argentinos Juniors got a narrow 1-0 win over Independiente del Valle in the reverse fixture. Here, hosts Independiente are -145 ATS and moneyline favorites. In the event of a draw, Argentinos Juniors will win the group and Independiente del Valle will come in second. A deadlock displays +255 odds here.

Meanwhile, Argentinos Juniors +0.5 shows +115 odds as the Buenos Aires-based club are coming off a 3-1 win over Defensa y Justicia. The visitors are also +385 underdogs for Wednesday night’s match. Under 2.5 goals sit at -120 odds for what should be an exciting Group E finale.

Palmeiras vs Bolivar

Date, time:

Palmeiras and Bolivar are also through to the knockout stage but are level on 12 points heading into the final matchday. With a +8 goal difference, Bolivar hold the tiebreaker over Palmeiras as things stand. However, Palmeiras are massive 2.5 goal favorites for this match and sit at +110 odds to cover.

Palmeiras, who won the Copa Libertadores in 2021, are also -850 moneyline favorites for Thursday night’s match. Bolivar did manage to defeat Palmeiras 3-1 in Bolivia back in April, though. Here, Bolivar +2.5 stands at -140 odds and the visitors are +1800 underdogs to pull off a sweep of Palmeiras.

Over three goals come in at -140 odds in what should be a free flowing match. These teams are the two highest-scoring teams of the group stage, so far. Currently, Palmeiras defender Gustavo Gomez is their leading scorer in the competition, with three goals in four appearances. A draw, which would ensure Bolivar finish first in Group C, sits at +725 odds.
