Kiwi Golfer Tops Myrtle Beach Classic Picks
2024 Myrtle Beach Classic Odds
It’s an even betting field for the Myrtle Beach Classic, the secondary PGA Tour tournament this week.
The 2024 Myrtle Beach Classic odds have Erik van Rooyen favored to win at +2500, the first time he’s been favored to win a tournament.
However, our top pick is Ryan Fox, who wasn’t far off winning his first PGA Tour win with Garrick Higgo in the Zurich Classic.
Fox Could Take Some Catching
As he showed on the DP World Tour when winning the 2023 BMW Championship, Fox has the game to win on the PGA Tour.
The 37-year-old Kiwi, and son of famous All Black Grant Fox, is a four-time DP World Tour winner, including the Alfred Dunhill Championship.
The big hitter didn’t make the cut at the Byron Nelson Championship last week, but we’re prepared to give him enough chance.
His performance to finish T38 at the Masters was terrific. He was on the first page of the PGA leaderboard after the first round, and anything close to that form would be good enough.
It’s a great chance for Fox to showcase his talent in the US, so we’re taking the +4000 odds available with 2024 Myrtle Beach Classic odds.
Oh Beau, Hossler Seeks Maiden Win
Beau Hossler might have left college one year too soon, but the 29-year-old gets a good chance to secure his first win.
We thought the former Texas player would have won by now after eight years on the PGA Tour. However, it hasn’t eventuated for him, but he did lose the 2018 Houston Open in a playoff to Ian Poulter.
There are no LIV players in the tournament, and there are star PGA players, so if Hossler doesn’t post a good finish, he needs to reevaluate his game.
He’s not like Fox, who has wins around the world, so he needs to start proving his worth and justify the +2800 odds.
He is falling down the PGA standings, so bettors should expect a better performance from one of the favorites this week.
Wallace to Pad the Wallet
Matt Wallace could provide bettors with a big return with 2024 Myrtle Beach Classic odds.
The Englishman is always near the top of the leaderboard, as he was last week when finishing T4 at the Byron Nelson Championship. He was confident about winning entering the final round.
“I know how to get the job done so I will do the same thing as what I’ve been doing tonight and get ready for that tomorrow and then go out there with full focus on trying to win a golf tournament,” Wallace said.
The 34-year-old won the 2023 Puntacana Championship for his lone PGA Tour win, but he’s a four-time winner on the DP World Tour.
His golf schedule has been busy, and it’s because the secondary tournaments are there for the taking, especially with the PGA Tour moving to a signature tournament schedule.
It could be seen as bad news for players like Wallace, who compete for less money. However, they also give him a chance to win tournaments.
Getting +3300 for Wallace is an excellent price, and he’s one of our best value bets for the tournament.
Higgo on the Improve
Higgo was the teammate of Fox in the Zurich Classic, which was good to see for the young player.
The 24-year-old South African is a three-time winner on the European Tour, and he won the 2021 Palmetto Championship when holding off six players by one stroke.
His fortunes could change this week at Myrtle Beach, and despite consecutive cuts as a solo player, he could bounce back.
He should have derived plenty of confidence from his effort with Fox, and although it was a pairs tournament, he defeated some of the best players in the world.
He has enough ability to win for a second time on the PGA Tour, and getting +6000 odds makes him a worthwhile wager.
