There is a distinct Ryder Cup atmosphere at the Zurich Classic this week, which is a pairs tournament on the PGA Tour.
Headlining 2024 Zurich Classic odds is the pairing of Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele, who look for overdue wins. However, right on their heels are European teammates Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry.

Schauffele’s Best Chance
It seems as though Schauffele can’t win another solo tournament, at least for the time being. However, being paired with Cantlay could get it done.
Schauffele has had success in pairs tournaments before, and he’s playing well enough to be the top pick with 2024 Zurich Classic odds.
Cantlay played himself into form last week at the RBC Heritage, so his confidence levels should be rising after a few months of struggling.
Golf odds this week have the pair at +400. It’s on the shorter side of value, but they are well-credentialed players, who won’t get a better chance to notch an overdue PGA Tour win.
They won this tournament in 2022, and they’re looking to become the first team to win twice. There has been solid money for them throughout the week, so the odds could shorten come tee-off time.
Don’t Underestimate the Irish
McIlroy might be from Northern Ireland and Lowry from Ireland, but they should make a great pairing at the Zurich Classic.
Much like Schauffele and Cantlay, McIlroy and Lowry haven’t been at their best in 2024. McIlroy, a former world number one, won in Dubai on the DP World Tour, but his form on the PGA Tour has been marginal at best.
It’s a strange turn of fate for the prolific winner, who doesn’t seem happy in his current situation, which prompted talks of him signing a massive deal with LIV. That has been rebuked, but it adds fuel to the fire.
Ryder Cup teammate Lowry should help McIlroy settle down. We expect them to play well as a team, especially in the foursomes.
After opening at +750, they are now +800, and their PGA Championship odds are worth taking.
Brother United for Success
Nicolai Hojgaard showed his talent at The Masters when finishing T16, which was made to look worse by a +4 final round.
The 23-year-old partners with brother Rasmas, who is another talented golfer on the DP World Tour.
The latter withdrew from the Indian Open last week after shooting 79 in the opening round, but he likely had thoughts of leaving early and preparing for the Zurich Classic.
Rasmus is the third youngest winner on the DP World Tour, so although he’s not as credentialed as Nicolai, he’s a good player at his best.
Many believe he withdrew to protect his impressive cut streak, having not missed a cut since the 2023 BMW Championship. However, whatever the reason, he should play much better.
Brothers should be more comfortable playing in pairs, and there is solid market respect with 2024 Zurich Classic odds at +1800.
Big Hitter Pairing Up
Garrick Higgo and Ryan Fox might not be the best players in the Zurich Classic field, but they will be exciting to watch.
Higgo is a 24-year-old from South Africa and Fox is from New Zealand, two countries that love engaging in a Southern Hemisphere rugby battle. However, they now join forces to attempt winning on the PGA Tour.
Having yet to win on the tour, Higgo and Fox would love to make their mark this week. It’s a great opportunity for them, and given how long they are off the tee, they only need to putt well to be near the top of the leaderboard.
Bettors get +6000, so there isn’t much risk in having a small wager on the duo.
